Himalaya Joshi is 17-year-old student filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia who has a fervent passion for the cinematic arts, especially in the areas of cinematography and editing. As a student at John Monash Science School with interests ranging from quantum physics and filmmaking to science communication and dance, he often draws the ideas for his projects from quiet introspections and many times from current scientific research as well. Films directed by him, like The Inverted Sands of Time and Pandemonium, have been selected continuously in the Canberra Short Film Festival, SCINEMA International Science Film Festival and the Student Los Angeles Film Awards, where his projects have been semi-finalists in the 2022 Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Experimental Film categories. As a media studies student, he aims to continue furthering himself in film and dreams of collaborating with a number of artists he looks up to, including Christopher Nolan, Guillermo del Toro, Thelma Schoonmaker, Hoyte van Hoytema, Shoojit Sircar and Hans Zimmer.
