A sequel to Alita: Battle Angel

We don't know what the potential is for a sequel to Alita: Battle Angel, but it's been a while since Disney had an idea for a sequel, so a lot of people are disappointed. The film's director, however, is optimistic about the sequel.

It's worth arguing that 2020 was a year when we saw very few new movies in theaters, so many of Hollywood's biggest movies were re-released, including Alita: Battle Angel. But even the theatrical rerun didn't make Disney want to invest in the film again. Still, that didn't stop director Robert Rodriguez's hopes for the film's future -- and certainly didn't dampen his positive mood -- he was optimistic about the future of Alita: Battle Angel, even suggesting that the franchise has a bright future in the streaming world.

"I think there's an opportunity for everything," the director said. "Disney bought Fox, and Disney owns the streaming platform, so it's worth talking about. I know everybody else wants to see another one, I really want to make another one, and in terms of where movies are going and how they're made, I think streaming offers a lot of opportunities, like sequels. So it would be a good idea."

It's worth noting that some in Alita's Legion (alita's fan base) have said that Disney is already talking about a sequel to the film and making it available on Disney platforms. Anyway, that's just what fans are saying in private. After all, there has been no official word that Disney is considering it. However, when hearing that the director himself, the development of the streaming platform, has a very good idea and confidence, it made the vast majority of fans, and the hope of the sequel.

To be fair, Disney insiders are very busy, and the acquisition of Fox, which has many previous film projects, combined with the growth of Marvel, has left many of Disney's future film projects blank.

In any case, like the director of Alita: Battle Angel, we can be optimistic. After all, just because Disney didn't mention the movie doesn't mean they weren't really interested, because a lot of people are looking forward to seeing the sequel happen, and the Folks at Disney, no matter how busy they are, surely know that. So, a sequel to Alita: Battle Angel is expected in the next few years. At the very least, I hope James Cameron will have enough time after Avatar 2 to push forward with a sequel to Alita: Battle Angel. After all, there are so many fans.

Of course, it's hard to underestimate the power of fans, and One of the best examples is Zack Snyder's Justice League Part One. At the time, no one thought a cut of the film would actually happen, but thanks to the work of fans and directors, we'll finally see it in 2021. So, I think that's why Robert Rodriguez is optimistic about this, and I hope the fans are as hopeful as he is.
