Princess Diana's biographical film Spencer has been confirmed to land on the North American theaters on November 5. For a biopic of a political figure, this release time ensures that the film enters the awards season. Prior to this, Spencer was also shortlisted for the main competition unit of this Venice Film Festival.
The movie Spencer focuses on the British royal family and the marriage relationship between Diana and Charles. It does not tell the life of Princess Diana. The story time is set within 3 days to show the life of the commoner princess from the side. Mainly about a crucial weekend in the early 1990s, Diana made up her mind: her marriage to Prince Charles will not have a good result, and she must deviate from the road of Queens Reserve.
The movie Spencer is directed by Pablo Laraine, and the British screenwriter Steven Dennett wrote the screenplay. He has written Gypsy Girl and Beautiful Bad Thing and other films, and he is quite experienced. The director Pablo Laren is a well-known Chilean director. His political film Say No to Chile was nominated for the best foreign language film at the 85th Academy Awards. The 2016 Pablo Neruda biopic The Hunt for Neruda and the Jacqueline Kennedy biopic The First Lady were both well received. The latter was selected as the main competition film of the 73rd Venice Film Festival.
In addition, the North American copyright of the film has also been bought by Neon Studios and Topic Studios, but there is no streaming plan for the time being.
