Free Guy

"Free Guy," which opened on Aug. 13, has so far grossed $112 million worldwide, with North America accounting for 52.5 percent of the total, an outstanding performance. Especially in the current "syncing" distribution model that is widely used in Hollywood, Free Guy, which is only released in theaters, did not fall as sharply as Black Widow and Cruella. The box office of Free Guy fell only 34% from $28 million in the first weekend to $18.8 million in the second weekend. The overall market is stable. Enough to make some competitors jealous.

The box office performance of Free Guy shows that "people still want to get out of the house, not stay in the room and be Free like Reynolds' character". Free Guy is about breaking virtual space: Reynolds plays Guy, a bank clerk who suddenly finds himself a passer-by in a video game whose everyday life has been programmed. With the help of Judy Comer, he breaks the rules and becomes a hero in the virtual world.

Free Guy has a Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of 82% and an average score of 62 on Metacritic. Many viewers loved the special effects and games, and CNN praised the film as "smartly stupid and fun to watch for Reynolds." The New Yorker said "Director Sean Levy tells a charming fable", while The Los Angeles Times said "The film is a romance set in The world of games, but Reynolds is too glib and pretentious to be a romantic leading man".
