In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne Johnson responded to Vin Diesel's "Tough love" by saying, "I'm laughing my ass off." He also said, "I wish the best of luck to Fast 9, Fast 10, Fast 11, and all the other Fast & Furious movies THAT I'm not in." The implication is clear.
Recently, producer Hiyun Garcia confirmed that Johnson would not be working on fast 10 or Fast 11, and would instead focus on Fast & Furious: Special Ops 2.
Garcia said: "After Fast 8, Dwayne Johnson made a decision not to work on any further Fast and Furious films, and it's easy to see why. He hopes to shift his focus to other film projects, and while he won't be working on the Furious 10 or 11, it won't affect the development of the Fast & Furious: Special Ops sequel. Obviously these characters exist in a 'fast universe' and we're happy to see different elements of the universe succeed. We're working on new ideas for a sequel, and the studio wants us to get started fast."
Dwayne Johnson previously revealed that he had enlisted Chris Morgan, the fast & Furious screenwriter who happened not to be working on Fast & Furious 9, to write the script for Fast & Furious: Special Ops 2.
