Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
View MoreI wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
View MoreThere is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.

View MoreSHAREENA. Shahid and Kareena Kapoor that is. This overwrought over-zealous over-polished Faux attempt at the famed British whodunit genre would have swept the house at Hollywood's Razi awards but since it's Bollywood, an industry that does not (well at least at the time of this review) have an award show that gives out accolades for the worst performances like Hollywood does the night before the Oscars.36 Chinatown weaves the tale of a missing child, his murdered mother, two gold digging teenyboppers, a handsome playboy and two other couples in circles around one another as drawn by a police inspector (Akshaye Khanna in one of his most dashing and sinful hot roles yet). Khanna takes the cake, I mean honestly if only they could have edited Shareena out of the picture, the film might have been a masterpiece lead by the very confident and professional Khanna. Not to mention supported by the very hilarious Johnny Lever & Paresh Rawal who turn in decent performances. Oh! and what's up with Piggy Chops? Priyanka Chopra that is? She seems to be doing a lot of cameos lately. Blink and you'll miss her appearance as Khanna's very sexy wife. Upen Patel makes his Bollywood debut as the heart breaker Rocky. Apart from the songs, you might want to skip this Chinatown.
View MoreEven though Abbas Mastan claim that the inspiration for this movie came to them while watching Chinatown (1974), the movie is actually a scene-by-scene lift of the 1992 Hollywood comedy Once Upon a Crime, starring John Candy and Cybill Shepherd. Interestingly, that movie was also billed as a comedy-mystery, but was also much more comedy than mystery, like this one.The roles played by Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were played by Richard Lewis and Sean Young in the original. The plot has been Indianized: the main events in the original happen in Monte Carlo, and here, they happen in Goa, which is kind of the Monte Carlo of India. Several other aspects of the plot have been Indianized: for example, the two protagonists in the original are returning a lost dog (in this, they are returning a lost child). But several things are not changed at all, including the character of the married-for-money Paresh Rawal (played by John Candy in the original), the suave Casanova Upen Patel (played by George Hamilton in the original), and the inspector Akshaye Khanna (played by Giancarlo Giannini).Despite having seen the original, I found this version to be highly entertaining. Especially impressive was Shahid Kapoor, who has excellent chemistry with Kareena. Akshaye Khanna does not have a very strong part, but still tries very hard. Overall, the movie does not disappoint.
View More36 China Town is a famous casino in Goa . Isha Koppikar as Sonia Chang is the heiress of this casino and gets a piece of hatred from many people in casino for certain reasons .The plot involves of many characters who are connected with each other through a common thread. They all went to 36 China Town on the night of murder of Sonia Chang. The film starts well, but poor editing slows the pace of movie. It seems as if the Directors missed the editing part. Unwanted songs are big nuisance and that too at time when the film can be gripping. The only respite is comedy by Johny lever which acts as the highlight of the film. But even some time the comedy becomes irritating like showing Paresh Rawal in bare minimum.I could hear comments like "aiyo Rama" from girls on seeing Paresh in his bare minimum. Akshay khanna is good and natural as the investigating officer but poor script makes the suspense looks so ordinary . upen patel is decent in his movie but he needs to really prove himself which he is unable to do in this movie. He is no doubt good looking but needs to hone his acting skills. Overall the film fails to grip the audience and is going to be one of the biggest setback of this year.
