8213: Gacy House Trailers

A group of paranormal investigators enter the abandoned home of paedophile and serial killer John Gacy, hoping to find evidence of paranormal activity. Upon entering the house they set-up cameras throughout the abandoned house while going room to room with hand-held cameras, performing séance's and asking for John Gacy to come forward. As the evening progresses it seems the investigators are not prepared for the horror still within the house.

Highly Overrated But Still Good

I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

This movie put out by Asylum...I cannot find the review right now, but one other reviewer said their were some problems with all Asylum movies, that they repeat the same lines over and over, because they have nothing to say. This observation nails it. Listen for people saying the same things over and over, and I mean within seconds, not just as the movie progresses. Then there is this technique of "people chatter about nonsense until the lead character takes over the scene". This too was overused.None of the characters say anything personal, except during their 10 seconds introduction on the film. They also copy about 12 different stunts from Paranormal Activity - I don't mind a few, but seriously... I could come up with something different for the entity to do if I spent about 15 minutes thinking about it... but I won't, I was supposed to be entertained, not be the entertainer.Even for a micro-budget, they could have done better. The only thing I liked was the genre they are pursuing.

The Asylum strikes again and somehow has managed to top themselves in the level of spectacular awfulness. The only, sole, lone, singular redeeming quality that this poor excuse for a film offers is its use of sexual imagery. They say that sex can sell anything and sex could successfully sell most people who enjoy looking upon an attractive female form from the waist up on seeing this bit of Troma-esque drivel. One almost-sex scene (the couple gets interrupted) and two gratuitous scenes about breasts (one impalement of a surgically enhanced left boob and another where the same girl's bra and shirt are pulled off) are all this film really offers. The rest is choppy, hand-held, so-called "found footage" (yeah, right....) that makes some people want to vomit from the lack of stability. Some of the footage is washed out or super saturated, out of focus, snowy, or complete wastes of our time. About half of this film could easily have hit the cutting room floor and resulted in the same boring, predictable, badly acted story. You have been warned.

I think this was trying to bank off the success that the "Paranormal Activity" movie had. However, this failed to do that. Yeah, it was creepy, but if you want 'jump out of my chair and fall to the floor from fear' then move away from this. They could have made it a lot better to in that it was all crammed into one night instead of spread out over a week. It's kind of a stupid move to make everything escalate so fast. Drag it out more and the suspense can be built more. Not to mention the effects were really bad. There was a screwing sound as one of them put in a fuse that was like it was cut out of a cartoon. If you want something like a POV horror movie, go watch Paranormal Activity or Paranormal Entity or ANYTHING ELSE!

Is the "haunted house/Paranormal Activity/Blair Witch" thing a bit over done these days? Yeah. But me being interested in serial killers, this one kinda had me throughout.First off, you got a guy that looks like McLovin in this, two fairly attractive blondes (one for the fans of busty girls and one for the more modest type) and the main actor looks like that guy from Kangaroo Jack. I loved the comparisons for everyone. It does do the kinda lame thing where nothing happens for a while and then the predicable shock happens, but what horror/thriller movie doesn't? On that note, I think this is more of a thriller than a true horror. If you have a scary ghost movie, of course there's going to be the creepy basement scenes-plenty to offer, and scenes where you say to the character "Dude...you really just went there alone? *Sigh* See you in the sequel." lol Okay, so the actors aren't the best, the camera work is a bit shoddy, but it's a fun movie to watch with a group of friends and a few beverages. Just have an open mind, expect nothing, lights off, and hit play.
