The greatest movie ever made..!
Sadly Over-hyped
Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
View MoreThis is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
View MoreThe closing credits for "Air Panic" list quite a few individuals with foreign-sounding last names, so you may think that this Nu Image production was filmed on their familiar stomping grounds of Bulgaria. Surprisingly, it seems it was filmed state-side, so that may explain why this effort looks a little better than many of their Bulgaria films. Some of the special effects aren't bad for what was a low budget, and the movie is shot and lit fairly well. Still, I was disappointed with this movie. Although I was not offended by the opening as some viewers will be (the movie was made BEFORE 9/11), the movie manages to feel rather flat and surprisingly not exciting despite all the chaos that happens to the protagonists. Those who think this is one of the worst films ever made simply need to expand the amount of movies they see, so they can see real turkeys. Though as I said in my summary line above, I still wouldn't recommend the movie to anyone.
View MoreThree planes have crashed and its a mystery as to how and one FFA guy thinks it's to do with computers, and he goes against orders and tries to get the next flight he thinks that will be targeted to stop. It's too late as the planes loaded and ready for takeoff and the pilots have no control over it. The FFA guy manages to get on board before it takes off in hopes of disabling the computer. There is a mad man on the ground controlling the plane and he controls everything happening, he can hear all conversations on board and even can transmit live feed to the passengers to help terrify them. Truth is the guy was badly burned in a related incident and wants revenge and not only does he want these planes to crash, this time he has it headed right towards a nuclear plant which will kill millions of innocent people on the ground. The officials send in planes to blow the plane in the sky, but the FFA guy assures them he can disable it from the plane..I have seen most of the air disaster movies and most have guys in the plane taking hostages and such, but this was my first seeing the people responsible doing it from a remote location. Its kind of like 2001 and 2010 with the computers being in charge. It wasn't completely original and it had all the expected clichés, but it was alright to watch this one time. If you like airplane disaster movies it might be worth checking out.The direction was horrible and most of the actors were bad, I thought Rowland did a good job and the bad guy Cain was okay..He looks a lot like Ozzy Osbourne with a burned face.Horrible C.G.I. and tons of flaws and factual errors made it bad, but as far as a bad b-movie goes, this wasn't too horrible. 3/10 stars.
View MoreThis movie has EVERY cliché of every terrorism or airliner crisis movie. However, it is not entirely unwatchable, thanks to good performances by Rowland, Loken and Smallwood (and maybe Enberg). What IS amazingly bad, though, is the computer animations they try to pass off as live action scenes. Boy, oh boy, the CGI scenes in "The Last Starfighter", filmed in 1984, are better than these (filmed 17 years later). The feeling of cheepnis really sends shivers down your spine.A pity, this could have been a much better movie with a little more budget and taste.
View MoreA micro budgeted but energetic thriller involving a scarred madman's plan to kill thousands by taking control of a jetliner from the ground and crashing it into a nuclear facility. Air Panic boasts good acting by Rodney Rowland and Alexander Enberg as his nemesis. The problem is the story is uncomfortably close to the 9/11 terrorist attacks making it highly unlikely to shw up on movie screens or even television.
