Ali: The Mission Trailers

The feats of Muhammad Ali's remarkable life. In 1990, the boxing legend traveled to Iraq to press a plea for peace and negotiate with Saddam Hussein for the release of U.S. civilians taken hostage after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. Ali risked his reputation, health and safety for the freedom of prisoners held by Hussein as "human shields" to deter U.S. military strikes. Only six weeks after Ali brought 15 hostages back home to their relieved families, Operation Desert Storm bombarded Iraq.

Best movie ever!

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

30 for 30 Shorts: Ali: The Mission (2013)Interesting episode in the 30 FOR 30 SHORTS series takes a look at a mission that Muhammad Ali went on in 1990 as he traveled to Iraq to meet with Saddam Hussein who was holding many American's as human hostages. The 13-minute documentary shows how Ali got involved, the original backlash of him meeting with Saddam as well as the conclusion to the events. The most valuable thing here is that a couple of the hostages are interviewed about their ordeal, which allows us to hear about how they were captured, how they were treated and what it was like when they were freed due to the work of Ali. All of them obviously have great things to say about Ali as they talk about what it was like meeting him after being freed. Some of the family members of the hostages are also interviewed about what they were feeling knowing Ali was going to Iraq to try and save their loved ones. This here is certainly an extremely good episode as there's plenty of great stories as well as some video footage of Ali in Iraq trying to do what needed to be done.Episode: A-
