Overrated and overhyped
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
View MoreNot sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreIt's beautiful, it has everything, the lungs of the world, a nature larger than life that provides for the people live there and for the world, and that might have underneath remedies to cure the cancer or other diseases, filled with natural resources; yet it's a miserable place, with poverty, hunger, exploitation. The movie confuses a bit with its distinction but it portrays the place as it was and is still today, with few changes. Just so you know, Amazonas is the state, Brazil's largest; Amazon is the whole area surrounding the Atlantic Forest, which covers the whole Amazonas and reaches other states and crosses the country's border reaching Colombia and Venezuela. It's an important document, it presents the virtues of the place and also of the people who work and live there, extracting rubber or something else; the movie makes this contradiction between misery and hardship with the marvelous and useful things that can be found in the region, with a narrator making a brief summary on Amazonas' story, lands found by the Spanish back in 1400's and later on taken over by the Portuguese. Good effort that should be used in schools. 8/10
