America The Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments Trailers

Covering issues such as America's unhealthy dieting craze, the use of the outdated and misleading BMI scale and the currently touted "obesity epidemic," Roberts debates the widely believed concepts that you have to be thin to be healthy. During his journey, he discovers the plethora of factors contributing to America's body dissatisfaction, many of which are being promoted by doctors, schools, the government, and even the First Lady of the United States. Roberts questions these industries' promotion of weight loss surgeries, fad diets, disorderly eating, and a nationwide fear of fat that causes panic whenever our Body Mass Index passes the number 25. With one of the most advanced medical systems in the world and alternative health modalities at our disposal, is it possible to be healthy at a variety of sizes and weights?

Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

I have my PE students watch this. It really does make you think, and hopefully it gets across the message of "Moderation" and "Balance"! I do wish the film would have also shown people that are in that moderate zone, those that balance exercise and nutrition, those that live a healthy lifestyle without being obsessive. I will say that I have worked with students, and I personally know people that fit within the extremes of life and they do get a message across. But, I know a lot more that work to live in balance. If the message at the end of the day is to find balance. To balance the healthy food with the junk food; to balance exercise with rest and relaxation. Then the message should of shown people in the middle. We saw people at the extremes, eating disorders, exercise disorders, extreme dieters, and the diet gurus. We did not see people that lived in the middle.
