The greatest movie ever!

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Roger Ebert called this 1979's best movie, and he put it in the top 10 movies he had ever seen. I personally can't go that far, but Apocalypse Now is a very good movie. So what is it about? IMDB's summary says: "During the Vietnam War, Captain Willard is sent on a dangerous mission into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade Colonel who has set himself up as a god among a local tribe." This kind of makes me see this as a Saving Private Ryan for the Vietnam War. And if you have read my review for that, you will know that I find this movie to be superior.If I had to pick at something-I do think the last half hour drags a little too long, and that the actors speak too softly. But those are minor set backs. There is also a "redux"-an extended cut that runs nearly 50 minutes longer. I saw that first and don't recommend that you do that. It's fine but the original cut is way more superior. See the original first. While I can't currently call this one of my favorite movies, this is definitely one of the finest war movies ever made!

Apocalypse Now is for sure a really beautiful film and very well made in general plus Robert Duvall gives one of his best perfomances and the entire cast is pretty good in general but where the film kinda disappointed me at least the Redux version did was with the story that was kinda slow and at times even hard to follow, some of the character's motivations were also a bit muddled like Brandon's for instance plus the scenes with the 2 women and the french weren't even needed. Overall an overrated and decent drama. (7/10)

While a war is simple: you kill and get killed. There's no need to justify wars or say they are something that could be avoided. They happen all the time because they are part of human's nature. Try to prove otherwise by looking at history )) Or by reading news.And let's be honest one more time: we're talking about movie selling business, so any idea will work well if it's sold. Blood, sex and f-bombs are all good for the audience sitting in cosy chairs and chewing popcorn.

Being in my twenties and never seen this movie, I decided it was time to do so since its high rating on IMDB. The pace starts good and soon the squad is on its way to take out a rogue soldier. They team up with another group that needs to help them out on the river. They do so and their journey continues. What follows are unnecessary scenes and slow pacing. Most shocking was that they arrive at some base with a huge show. At that moment I was thinking: What the heck was all that stuff about travelling with their boat and that big fight in that village when they could just have flown to that military base with the show??? Afterwards they came in some half deserted base where to those Miss july's etc. are holed up. What are such national celebrities doing in run down base that do not even have normal tents? More funny was that they apparently offer intercourse for oil. Like what? I guess I try that next time I go out as well.So far I did not continue with the movie yet but I do plan to do so. But people calling this the greatest movie is just nostalgia speaking (pink tainted goggles on their eyes while watching this average war movie) Some others talk about the horrors of war this movie shows. Yeah rights, the horrors of some cowboy walking untouched through explosions while talking about how much he wants to surf.Really guys this movie is average at best.
