In other words, this film is a surreal ride.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Nothing really spectacular and memorable about this comedy. The number of different characters that get thrown at the viewer once the movie starts is remarkable. Too bad that during the movie the character numbers just keep piling up and it gets quite confusing who's who and what the relationship dynamics of each character are. Some of the characters don't really get explored at all so, I guess, they are in the movie for comedic purposes, but they don't play that role very well, which in turn spoils the movie somehow. There are some okay jokes here and there, but most of them feel plain. The same can be said about the acting - decent performances are mixed with poor ones and the result is nothing special.

This movie was a lot of things, funny was not one of them. It seems like the writer took all possible stereotypes, wrote individual story lines, and then shuffled them together not paying attention to what would actually work. This movie actually would have worked better as a drama. No part of it was even remotely funny, let ALONE hilarious (as one reviewer suggested). I would never categorize this movie as a comedy. The "jokes" (I didn't even notice any?) should have been deleted and they should have just done it as a heartfelt love story (which would have worked). Some stories took forever to get going and then played out in 2 seconds. Others were just incredibly unbelievable. I frequently found myself doing a face palm at how embarrassed I was for the people involved. I can't even say this was a good effort. It felt like no one actually read the script or watched it after editing to see how it all came together. I hope this was a first effort and her films have learned from this one's mistakes.

Pleasantly surprised! I thought this was going to be another soggy, predictable, boring lesbian coming out and romance movie. This movie was poignant and hilarious, with many plot twists and memorable lines. It was not entirely light-hearted. One of the characters is the mother of a baby who has died, for example. Including this subplot sent the message that even someone who has suffered such a tragedy is still an ordinary person who is part of life and able to experience laughter and love. The love story at the center of the film was passionate, imperfect and deep. Above all, the movie was polymorphously sexy. One particularly charming quality that this movie possesses is the portrayal of romantic love between two people in the midst of a loving community of friends, all of whom are having their own struggles of the heart. It hit the some of the same postmodern romantic lesbian comedy notes as "Kissing Jessica Stein." I appreciated the fact that many of the characters were clearly meant to be Italian-American (this was evident to me even before they were "outed" as Italian in the film), with references to Catholicism and pizza and construction without descending into flat stereotypes, kind of like the way Jessica Stein's Jewishness was treated in that movie. Lizzie-20 needs to lighten up and look up "camp" in the dictionary.

Where to begin with this movie that tried to be good, that I wanted to be good and that ended up not achieving either goal. I really liked this movie when I watched it, it kept me entertained, I laughed at some of the comedy, and I was glad that there was a happy ending. But upon further reflection I was entertained by a shoddy story, there wasn't enough laughter and the ending didn't make sense and now seems a little forced. So what went wrong? I think this movie had too many story lines trying to compete for attention and so to fit them all in leaps had to be made to move them along and those leaps made them feel artificial. Like the story line about the mother finding out that her daughter is a lesbian. First there's a fight, then the mother prays to the saints for her daughter to not be gay, then she can't understand why her daughter is gay, then all she wants is for her happiness and finally she schemes to get her daughter and the main character together. Now all these points along a plot would be tough to tackle in its own movie let alone tackling along with 10 other plot points, so by the end we have a converted mother who we never really could see or understand why she converted when she did. This alone is frustrating except when you add people who don't progress very far, as one reviewer said one dimensional characters who only stick to their one ad nauseum story and then hook ups left and right that don't make sense. And then the ending where (stay with me) the lesbian turns straight, the straight becomes a lesbian (again) and the gay guy gets a few stereotypical lines about a dress fitting him. All in all a frustrating movie that has too many stories going on and at the end too little going for it in the way of believability...Argh!
