Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

Doomtomylo

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

"At Granny's House", Available on Amazon Prime, iTunes, and Vimeo (worldwide).Writer/ Director Les Mahoney who also plays the lead is a Horror/ Thriller that's starts off as a normal movie, than quickly escalates to a bizarre who's who! A elderly Ladies son seeks a caregiver for his mom. Wanted to live his own life he settles on a young lady played deviously by the lovely and talented (Rachel Alig) that has all the answers and seems like the perfect women to care for his mom. The son has his bad packed and out the door before another word is said. At first the mom doesn't really care for her but soon grows to like and bond with her. Shortly after settling in she devised and idea to offer the basement to weary travelers Looking for free room and board. She convinces Marion the old lady about her idea and how wonderful it would be to meet new people! The boarders start checking and not checking out. This goes on till one day she falls for one of the passerby and his wife. She convinces him to be with her and he Joins her in her sick game. This movie has so many twists and turns, you never know what to expect or who to trust. There is plenty of very sensual scenes between the 2 main characters and you really get sucked into there demented twisted scheme. I am really impressed with everyone involved in this complex mystery. It is chilling and Rachel Alig is really captivating as the pretty psycho who has no conscience. I really want to see this young lady in more roles, she carried the movie and had you mesmerized. Glenda Morgan Brown as Granny was equally good and played her role with such substance, you really feel for her character and what she was going through! She felt abandoned and this young lady offered her companionship and friendship. She was no longer alone and had a constant friend. Being an Indy filmmaker who also did everything in his movie, I really respect Les Mahoney for taking not only the lead role, but also writting and Directing. He nailed each job perfectly. The chemistry between him and Rachel were realistically portrayed. I would like to see them reunite in another feature. I really enjoyed this and found it haunting and unsettling. If your into something different and not a color by number Predictable Slasher flick give this one a try. I fell in love with Rachel Alig, and loved her deliveries and performance. A must view!Bill Oberst Jr., Rachel Alig Glenda Morgan Brown , Les Mahoney, Charles A. Baird, Bryant Watts and Laura Lee. Written/Directed by Les Mahoney

Rebecca (Rachel Alig) is a caretaker who was hired to take care of Marion Rogers (Glenda Morgan Brown) an elderly slightly forgetful woman who likes her space. Rachel reminds her that, "I'm here to make your life better." They decide to do something fun my offering a free place to stay for travelers at a web site "Myfreebed.com." Rachel is annoyed by people who ignore Rachel by insisting on using their electronic device. They pay the ultimate penalty. This is low budget light horror film. It lacks blood and gore. What hurt the film most was the lousy soundtrack plus the bad sound system. It made everything sound cheap and tinny and that effects the overall viewing experience. Acting wasn't that great either.Guide: Sex and nudity (Rachel Alig-thank you) No swearing.

It's impressive that this was made outside the constrained studio system. This is not your ordinary thriller. It has a bit of a slow pace but it's deliberate; one doesn't realize they're being drawn into the film until midway through. Rachel Alig plays a perfect, unfeeling sociopath, with utterly emotionless dead eyes; even when her manipulative character "smiles," her eyes don't. "Granny's House" does become almost a very dark comedy of sorts in its third act, and while this feature may not be for everyone, it's worth a look or two.

This is a taut character driven thriller that reminds me of the great Hitchcock films of the past. The acting is great, especially Glenda Morgan Brown as Granny, and Rachel Alig as Rebecca, the caretaker with a dark secret. These ladies really rock the screen and own their parts. But the acting is solid throughout: Les Mahoney as Ted is very good, and the "king of indie horror" Bill Oberst, Jr, plays against type as a relentless private detective. Their fight scene is memorable. The story is very interesting, and there are some great twists and turns--especially at the end! Indeed, the movie looks and sounds really good, and the images and the music work very well together.Disregard the haters who wrote bad reviews of this film--some people just have to hate, right? Enjoy this special indie thriller.
