It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

"Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World" is a 25-minute short film from the United States. This one came out back in 1987, so it has its 30th anniversary this year. The director is Bernard Deyriès and writer is Martha Moran and for both it, especially the writer, it was still relatively early in their prolific careers. The title of this animated film here already gives away that Barbie is a mega successful rock musician and she has toured the entire world, so she and her gang are looking for new destinations and the only thing left is space. The messages on charity and peace are somewhat okay, but as a whole, this was not a good watch. 80s animation is bearable without standing out, but the entire plot, the colors, the characters and also the voice acting all feel extremely out of place and over the top. These factors made it impossibly for me to enjoy it and honestly if we take a closer look at the story we will also see it has almost nothing to do with reality. Yes it is an animated movie about fictitious characters, but still. People should not be appalled by this film because of the unacceptable message Barbie has sent out for decades now to teenage girls, but they should be appalled by what a weak outcome this is. Real creativity and something that stands out positively are components that you are not gonna find in here. I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.

As a child, I loved this video. Re-visiting it after years of forgetting it and being reminded of it watching and re-watching all the Barbie movies(and such). I still liked it. It could have been longer and the dialogue for me wasn't brilliant in all honesty, but it had an interesting story with a good sense of atmosphere, music that is impossible to get out of my head, good, bright animation(though the video I watched it on was old and perhaps took away from the quality) and the characters are likable and very pretty. The voice work is solid as well.In conclusion, a very nice video that took me back down memory lane. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Barbie and the rock-stars is amazing. Although my comment is not the same as the previous one. In the edition I have, Barbie and the gang have just finished their world tour and are stuck with how they could ever top it. Then as the first ambassador of world peace Barbie receives an invitation to a ball, choosing Ken as her "Prince Charming" to escort her. While there, she takes the opportunity to inform the fellow ambassadors and friends that her next mission will be a tour into outer space to promote world peace, much to the surprise of the rest of the group. It then shows the girls getting ready to perform and dressing up and the performance then going live with millions of people worldwide watching. Brings a tear to the eye :'( Very entertaining video for all the big kids out there! A Definite MUST!!!!

Even though most of the 80's cartoons cease to exist these days, I still love this movie. Barbie has gone everywhere and done everything and to make world history decides to have a concert out in space! Getting to the concert and performing goes wonderfully until Barbie and the Rockers try to get back to earth. They end up getting back to Earth but in the wrong time period, instead of the 80's they end up in the 50's! It may sound really strange but I think if you have grown up liking Barbie and still do to see this movie.
