This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Awful, terrible, stupid, insulting, this is a triple play movie" DUMB,DUMBER,AND DUMBEST. And the award goes to writer, producer, director and all the cast Please do not insult the intelligence or lack of intelligence of the public. Anyone who suffers from post traumatic stress should not watch this movie. anyone who has lost their sense of taste ,smell, sight,or hearing should not watch this movie. it could be fatal lol I lost my sense of taste by watching this stupid "movie" really bimbo's on the beach . Doing what? bimbo watching ? Its not even fun to make fun of."a Beach mermaid, skydiving, biker gangs. This was Hollywood at its dumbest. I would rather watch a state execution then to sit thru this. If I was one of the "actors" in this "movie" I would jump off a bridge. It could win an award for the worst movie ever made. They made four or five movies I believe,I lost count after Beach Blanket Bimbo 2,3,4,5.Frankie Avalon must have been desperate when he asked him to star in this movie. He was a "B" list actor, never a great singer. Annette Funicello could sing and I can not be cruel to her. but the rest of the cast,Paul Linde,Don Rickles,Buster Keaton. and the Von Zipper's Biker gang should get an honorable mention. They are awful. I would prefer to watch Ed Wood's Plan 9 from planet X then watch Beach Blanket Bimbo movies. award goes to William Asher for writing and directing this piece of xxxx

Beach Blanket Bingo (1965) ** 1/2 (out of 4) The fifth film in the series finds Frankie (Frankie Avalon) and Dee Dee (Annette Funicello) arguing some more when pop singer Sugar Kane (Linda Evans) enters their lives. The story also deals with the two trying skydiving and getting their relationship drama mixed up with the two instructor's drama.BEACH BLANKET BINGO is considered by most people to be the best of the series. I'd probably agree with that statement but at the same time I didn't think the movie was that much better than the first three in the series. I will say that on a technical level this one here is certainly much better as it seems AIP spent some extra money because the film doesn't have that cheap look that effected earlier entries and I'd also argue that the songs were a tad bit better. At the same time, the story itself really doesn't have anything too great as once again Dee Dee proves to be the most jealous girlfriend in the history of cinema. Jeez, I honestly can't remember another character that always creates so much drama. I'm sure this was fun to people back in the day but thank God she was beautiful! Both Avalon and Funicello were certainly comfortable in their roles by this point and they're fun to watch. The regular gang is back including Don Rickles, John Ashley, Jody McCrea and Evans is also quite good in her entrance to the series. Buster Keaton is also brought back, which was great to see.The cinematography also manages to be a lot better here and overall there's a lot of positive things to say about the picture. It was certainly a smart idea bringing Avalon back into the series after replacing him with Tommy Kirk in PAJAMA PARTY.

Beach Blanket Bingo is a great movie by all accounts. The beginning of the movie starts straight away. The plot kicks in right from the start, making the movie exciting from the off.As the film starts to get towards the middle part, the plot really begins to thicken.Between the start and middle of the film is arguably the best bit.As the title suggest it's definitely Beach Blanket Bingo rather than GravyTrainBingo.com and the beach scenes are really funny by all accounts!Getting past the middle of the film, the excitement really begins to build. The suspense continues until the final few scenes, which are gripping to say the least. As the final few scenes take place you know that you have watched a movie and a half. The main male lead actor, and supporting actors, are very good unquestionably. The lead female actress is superb, and deserves an award.Definitely recommend getting on the gravy train and watching Beach Blanket Bingo!

I've hesitated to make any comments about this one of the beach movies. It's like commenting on Citizen Kane or 2001 - too daunting. First of all, along with the COMPLETELY regular cast, it's one of the ones with Don Rickles. People have said that he just doesn't come across well in anything that's SCRIPTED for him, but that's far from completely true. Just watch for the little moment with him, after Frankie does his skydiving - it's a "classic" Don Rickles moment. And Paul Lynde could always be funny, with or without a script (most recently, fans of Roger the alien on "American Dad" are interested in him). One of his best lines is when Earl Wilson - who looks like the most straight-laced person in the world - wants to visit the surfers' hangout a second time. Lynde says, "Which girl is it, Earl?" And then there are Jody MacCrea (sp.) and Marta Kristen in the "Lorelei" subplot. Anyone who's seen brooding movies like "Night Tide" might like this mainly COMICAL mermaid story (not that it's the first or last one, of course). And of course, Timothy Carey as South Dakota Slim, who steals Sugar Kane from Erich Von Zipper, after Von Zipper went to the trouble of kidnapping her himself! Anyway, these are just SOME of the things going for it. The only thing missing from this beach movie is the cameo - I've always wondered why that is.
