Intense, gripping, stylish and poignant

Dynamixor

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

Don't get caught up in the attempted artistry of satiracle dark humor. Anybody can claim something is art and it be a scapegoat. Love all actors... but they should've sat this one out. There's no story and it's devoid of meaning. There's nothing beautiful and there's no hidden message... Salma spends half of the movie showing you she is connected to the family and spend the other half proving she's not by just stating a bunch of rude nonsense in a random manner. I never write reviews... I love all movies... that have a point... this one didn't.... It is what it is...

While the individual performance of actors in general is good( Jay Duplass isn't counted), the message is troubling. If you want to change the world, then you are alone, isolated, don't know how to behave and even you don't have self-esteem or dignity unless you kill yourself. You can't present an argument with a clear message. Yeah the movie sounds like to present and defend better approaches but in reality it says this life. Beatriz couldn't even let anyone one rethinks their views. The only solution she came up with is to kill either the bad guy or herself!

First of all, the acting is amazing. However, the story and plot is what really spoiled this movie for me. The story is very flat, there are good people and bad people and no complex character or complexity in the plot. Completely predictable. There are no layers to the story. You end up not caring about any of the characters, but also get pissed off at them all, both left and right. Very uninteresting movie.

A very simple, very effective film. Hayek is fantastic, as is Lithgow. It's awkward, enthralling, beautifully paced. Set largely around a dinner party, it feels like it could be a play, with lots of substance and just the right amount of style. A real breath of fresh air.
