Nice effects though.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This movie wanted so badly to be an edge of your seat thriller full of twists and turns that would leave the audience breathless. The only way I could see the audience getting breathless would be with how fast they were running to get out of the theatre. A murder happens, then we meet our happy couple. They're going to visit his parents and he has issues with them. Then, news of the murder is mentioned. Apparently the boyfriend of the victim has gone missing. This causes a conversation that is possibly the most cack- handed use of Chekhov's Gun in cinema history where the girl laments it's always the boyfriend and women shouldn't be stupid enough to date psychopaths. Her own boyfriend might as well have a flashing neon sign that says GUILTY above his head at this point. The writer may have realised this. Maybe they felt bad about making it so obvious right at the beginning. That almost - almost - explains why they felt the need to throw in several other 'twists'. To their credit, I didn't see the twists coming, but to their detriment, that's only because those twists were so mindnumbingly ridiculous, nobody in their right mind would have predicted them. Don't waste your time on this, it's outright terrible. It's marketed as a road trip/abduction movie, but really, it's some bizarre attempt at Hitchcock meets Agatha Christie that fails in every way.

Almost nothing redeeming in this movie. The female lead and the kidnapper are good enough actors but the rest of the cast was horrible. If you are looking for a scary thriller, this is not the movie to go see. This is a story you have seen many times and done much better. A girl and her boyfriend go on a weekend trip to meet his parents. The couple is kidnapped and terrorized by the kidnapper. Needless to say the move degenerates from here and really gets very boring and uninteresting. You really end up not feeling anything for any of the characters. Don't wast your time on this one, its not worth watching at all.

If you've not yet seen this film and are considering renting it - DON'T. The film starts out somewhat watchable and goes quickly downhill from there. Only two of the actors, the female lead and the kidnapper, have any talent. In fact, this film is way below their skill level. The kidnapper reminds me of Stephen Dorff and was solid throughout, creepy and evil but not over-the-top. The girlfriend did a great job as well and seemed genuinely terrified. The male lead and his parents are just bad. And I mean BAD. Of course, the script deserves some or most of the blame for this. To say the script is weak is an understatement. When the fundamentalist parents make their appearance, the dialogue gets laughably bad when the father and son get into their fire and brimstone, Old Testament babbling. I don't even think good actors could have pulled off those lines. The film seems to have been shot well, but the script, direction and editing failed on so many levels, this project could have never worked.I'm also wondering why a girl who was in the film for less than 5 minutes is on the cover instead of the lead when the lead girl is far more attractive. My guess is that the star may have had something in her contract that let her take herself off the box/poster if she wasn't pleased with the final product...which obviously she wouldn't be. So, it's a very big "pass". How did this make it in Redbox?

I saw this film at a private screening and found it to be very suspenseful. There are several plot twists and the film keeps you engaged from beginning to end. This is no doubt attributed to great writing by Daniel Fanaberia who gives an excellent performance as Mark. Tom Sandoval is very convincing as Steven. Director Clint Lien takes you on a crazy ride that comes to a surprise end. There is never a dull moment in this film. It takes a new twist on an old idea and makes it work well. It helps that the editing and camera work are great as it just enhances the story. Overall, the acting, directing and writing are very good. It would be great to see it receive theatrical distribution.
