A Disappointing Continuation
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
View MoreIt's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
View MoreA film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
View MoreThis movie is better than a lot of crap malayalam movies. Jayaram acted in regular role and this movie carries a message about a family man's greed for dowry. Not as good as Satyan Anthikad's earlier movies but is still watchable with good songs.Nedimudi Venu is in a good role and not just another regular role. This movie has funny moments but not as much as one would expect. The heroine has nothing much to do.It will appeal to family audiences but not maybe youngsters. This movie has a nice opening with k. lalitha and daughter making achapum. It made me hungry.
View MoreIt was a very typical Satyan Anthikad movie with a very light subject. It is directed well to keep you never bored. Almost all the actors did very decent job except the heroine Kaniha. Kaniha seems to be a complete wrong cast for the role. She couldn't live as a village Christian girl of Kuttanadu, Kerala. Also she had a bit difficult role to present, and she completely failed with her acting and expressions. In Satyan Anthikad films, best roles always go to actors like Nedumudi Venu, Mamukoya, KPAC Lalitha and Innocent. Even if they have only very small role, they always resemble some real life characters who are at your next door. The same goes in this movie also. Surprising role was of Venu Nagavalli as father of Kaniha, who couldn't keep his promises to son-in-law. With a bit different role than what we have seen Venu till now, he did an extremely superb job. Jayaram as usual took care of his role very easily.A movie worth watching with family.
View MoreThe movie portrays jayaram as a common man with aspirations. This is a emotional flick which portrays a good man with greed for money.Jayaram runs a cable TV franchisee having big ambitions. To raise the money to buy a fishing boat he married Kaniha, it later turns out that Kanhiha's father Venu Nagavally was not able to keep his promise to give the dowry on time. The film shows how dowry is still evident in the society and how people must work to eradicate this social evil. The songs are OK. The name suits well with the story of the film.Even though Bhagyadevatha is a regular film from director Sathyan Anthikad, the subject is well handled and the message delivered without preaching. Sathyan was able to gift what people are expecting from him. Bhagyadevatha is a film you can watch with family. Don't expect the old satyan magic.. but still enjoyable
