Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.

Best movie of this year hands down!

Myron Clemons

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

Johnny Mack Brown (himself), Lois Hall (Carol), House Peters, Junior (Jim Grant), Forrest Taylor (Roberts), Stanley Price (Hawkins), Edmund Cobb (sheriff), and Dennis Moore, Milburn Morante, Edward Cassidy, George DeNormand, Carl Mathews.Director: WALLACE W. FOX. Original screenplay: George Daniels. Photography: Gilbert Warrenton. Film editor: Fred Maguire. Art director: Fred Preble. Music director: Ozzie Caswell. Assistant director: Melville Shyer. Producer: Vincent M. Fennelly.Copyright 6 May 1951 by Monogram Pictures Corporation. No New York opening. U.S. release: 6 May 1951. No British or Australian theatrical release. 51 minutes.SYNOPSIS: An unscrupulous sheriff and his henchmen are actually responsible for both a kidnapping and the theft of gold bullion.COMMENT: Despite its "Blazing Bullets" title, "blaze" is exactly what bullets do not do in this very tame Monogram western. Filmed on the cheap in very long takes, abounding with lots and lots of talk, but only piddling dribbles of action, this little movie (it runs only 49 minutes on television) has virtually nothing to recommend it, save Johnny Mack Brown's pleasing personality! (And even that little windfall is lessened by the fact that Johnny is obviously getting just a little too old for these hero-to-the-rescue roles).
