Well Deserved Praise
n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
View MoreThis is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
View MoreCasanovva prior to its release was given a lot of hype but unfortunately it does not live up to all the pre-release hype. I feel Mohanlal in the role of the playboy millionaire was a miscast; he is too old for that type of a role. Despite this obvious factor he is the one who carries the movie ahead. He especially played the grieving lover part in the second half, to perfection. Sreya Saran looks gorgeous as the love interest of Lal and their chemistry is credible despite the vast age difference between the actors. Another matter to be stressed is the main negative lead by newcomer Vikramjeet Virk who plays the role of gangster leader named ''Alexi'', with cool confidence and panache. He is perfect in what was given to him and, performance wise, is able to match the veteran actor, Mohanlal. His action scenes are sleek and believable and according to the makers, Vikramjeet did all the stunts by himself; he is a promising talent as well. The foreign locales r beautiful, songs r average and the cinematography is awesome. The makers could have avoided those scenes between Lal and those ladies and i honestly cringed at those scenes. The actor himself looked a bit uncomfortable in it. Die hard Lal fans will enjoy the move. Overall, for me, this movie was a huge disappointment.
View MoreI saw the movie yesterday, when the DVD got released. I wanted to watch this movie in the first place when it got released. But, due to the heavy negative reviews, i thought to wait till DVD release. The movie was not bad at all. Not the one movie to be remembered. I can say that the most stylish movie in Malayalam. Mohanlal as Cassnovva shines. But in some scenes, he doesn't suit the role and looks older. The first half went off like a roller-coaster but second half was OK (seems to be so boring in parts). So many unwanted dialogues and scenes makes the movie lil bit terrible. Songs are good. The BGM for the whole movie was peppy, but Gopi Sunder should minimize the unwanted noises.. LOL..The new guys was not too good but they were OK. All in whole ill give 6.8 out of 10.
View MoreNo. There is minimum probability that I will sit and watch it a second time. I shall list the reasons.1. I loved the trailers. They raised the bars of my expectation to an international level with stylish shots, top quality frames, brilliant music, lovable moves of my favourite star - Mohanlal, beautiful leading ladies, and thrilling action! 2. Unfortunately, Casanovva has only those 2.5 minutes as shown in he trailer, to boast about! 3. The shots are stylish. But style without substance. Throughout the movie you will have this question in your mind; "why?" 4. Frames are beautiful but failed to connect! Where's the screen play? Bobby - Sanjay failed me! :-( 5. Brilliant music, but where's the best song of the album; Saghiye? 6. Mohanlal... I felt real sorry when you tried your best to keep up with the younger kids in those fight scenes. :-( 7. The ladies... They look pretty in all scenes and there ends the story! 8. Thrilling action... What's the point? So, when I left the theatre, I was frustrated. Buying DVD should've been much wiser than spending 2000 bucks. ( Yeah, I took my whole family to the theatre)
View MoreCasanovva might not have pleased the fans, understandable for it isn't an out & out action flick, neither does it have the comic flavor to tickle our ribs! Rather its an amazing romantic thriller, think about it, how often do u get the blend of those two elements!! Yes, it's stylish and racy too. But i really loved the romantic part, the transition which Casanovva goes through could have been better scripted, but i don't think i have seen dramatic scenes without a pinch bit of surrealism in any Malayalam movies - exception comes in form of classics, but rarely do we see romantic threads in such movies. The songs were melodic and catchy and peppy, though i awed at the intro song which was a bit inane. I was thoroughly disappointed that the track "sakhiye nin" wasn't there in the movie. The climax wasn't the best to be which i think is only the weak link. The locales weren't much aberrant as commented by my friends, nowadays even Tamil movies show them all. That said Malayalam movie with such stylishness and raunchiness is too good to miss! LALETTAN rocked as usual, shriya was good, and so were the others. Rosshan Andrews needs a standing ovation for presenting it neat, Sanjay & Bobby's screenplay wasn't crispy, but its so stupid to compare their works, Casanovva was written right after "NoteBook" and then came "Traffic" & unlike popular belief I don't think they are one time wonder. Also read many a time that the second half was lifted from "Engeyum Kadhal". Well, This movie was written 3 years back, and in that case it should be the other way. :-DPersonally, I would keep this movie close to my heart - of course I wouldn't endorse the movie to serious movie critics or to insane guys who claim to be a member of some fans association. For those who love to spend 3 hours on wholesome entertainment, this is a one time watch at least. Romance, Action, Songs, Drama. A regaling cuisine with all ingredients you would fall in love with.
