Don't Believe the Hype
Boring, over-political, tech fuzed mess
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

View MoreWell, from the get go of this picture you can imagine almost everything that's gonna happen. If you are a daily movie watcher, you'll probably think that in the end, it was all Victoria's imagination and sick mind-- but hey, that's not what happens this time! Pink's character is extremely annoying, I was praying for her to die in the first scenes."Catacombs" is a strange film that was going very well until it's main character got lost in the cave; after that, it became a little boring and tiring to watch. I expected more story and less cat and mouse race. But, I have to admit this story is pretty original and runs away from most clichés, which is admirable for such low-budget production. The ending is ridiculous in my point of view, but it depends on what you like in a movie. Thought being entertaining at most times, doesn't deserve more than five stars.
View MoreIt's a (very!) dark suspense thriller that uses the Catacombs of Paris as setting. Almost the entire plot is passed in the Catacombs, just the first 30 minutes are outside. I liked this film especially because of four main reasons: 1) The dark setting and the way suspense was created. 2) The camera work; especially some shots in the dark and the "flashing scenes" (at the techno parties and when the main actress is running through the catacombs). At parts the camera assumes really frantic movements following the leading actress! 3) The soundtrack: the electro music and the dark and creepy sounds. 4) The final twist! I think the film ended in an amazing way, probably the better way possible! I appreciated the first twist, when she found it all was nothing but a prank, but the way she reacted was amazing! For me it was unexpected but great!Excluding the leading actress, who did a regular job, I didn't appreciate the acting though. It definitely could have been better. Some of the FX either, but generally this film was a good surprise, especially the last minutes and the mentioned twist.
View MoreAs a lover of the horror genre I am tired of films that rely on blood and gore to not scare but simply gross out the viewer, I prefer films that work on more of a psychological level and this one definitely does. It starts of fast with two sisters visiting each other in Paris, They decide to go to a party in the catacombs under the city and all hell breaks loose. The acting was very good for a horror film and I thought that the atmosphere was very well done and made the film very creepy. The direction was a little erratic at times and I couldn't always follow what was going on but other than that the film was the most disturbing movie I have seen since The Exorcist.
View MoreI've seen a few comments concerning Pink's acting in the film. I do not think she had poor acting skills, I believe she was casted in the wrong film. The girl who plays her sister, on the other hand, was TERRIBLE. I agree that this isn't a horror film, it's more of a thriller, if that. It's nauseating how repetitive the movie is, but the twist at the end, is pretty cool. Pink didn't really have all that much in the movie; let's be honest, she's pretty bitchy, but there has to be those characters. I love the storyline & I think it would've been better with more script & less repetition. I enjoyed it, but like I said, it wasn't all that great.
