I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
View Morean ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
View MoreWhile it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
View MoreI feel like I can't go too hard at this movie, it's basically a couple of friends who got together to film a movie in their 'hood' with little budget and no real experience.I just had a look and IMDb lists it as a 30.000 dollar budget movie, and while that is very little in comparison with most movies I can't really figure out what they did with that money cause it looks like it was made with a lot less. But, everyone have to start somewhere right?Dwayne Hurt both stars as the lead while still being the director, writer, cinematographer, composer, editor and producer of the movie... I also believe that he acted as a camera-man occasionally so to say that this is a small movie is a understatement. It does have a bigger cast than just the 3 people listed on IMDb though, about 15 or something. With that taken to consideration, it's not terrible, it could have been a lot worse. What works best IMO is when the movie isn't taking itself too seriously, I found myself laughing a bit in the first 20 minutes. The movie ends 58 minutes in and then there's some bloopers for a couple of minutes and then the longest 10 minute credits EVER they have like 20 names on the list so you can imagine how slow the credits roll, imagine that and multiply that with 10 and that's how slow the credits roll. All in all though can't hate on their effort but yeah it's not in the same league as MENACE II SOCIETY or SNIPES that's for sure, or even HOT BOYZ or STATE PROPERTY for that matter... BUT it's more entertaining than a lot of the low budget hood-flicks York Entertainment put out in the late 90's early 00's so there is always that.
