Great Film overall
Good start, but then it gets ruined
An Exercise In Nonsense
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
View MoreOkay I realized this movie was not made for me... I am not a woman nor a latino but for creators sake at least the writers could have done was create 3-dimensional characters. All the dialog was overshadowed by Spanish music. Seems like they were trying to sell the latest in Latin music than sell the characters. But on the other hand I could see the reason why...The acting was Gawd horrible...I watched this movie high on caffeine but for some reason found it extremely difficult to stay awake.I didn't even know this movie actually went to the theaters. It should have been left on the cutting room floor... all 8,100 feet! My belief was that some studio exec got a hard-on seeing the leading latinas in the same movie and decided to cough up some dough.I used this film as production research to see what the production did with 5 million dollars and its obvious it was totally wasted! Do yourself a favor rent this movie and keep the DVD... It makes for a nice drink coaster.
View MoreWhen I first heard of this picture I was expecting a Latin -- and updated -- version of BOEING BOEING, the 1965 farce about a guy involved with three flight attendants. This film didn't come close to that, although the interaction of the female characters and the situation that occurred after they met is more like the sex comedies from Mexico that turn up on the Spanish-language TV networks. The three women are perfectly cast for a picture like this and do admirably provide a few good laughs. After a few scenes you also realize that their characters defy most stereotyping of Latin women. However, the main disappointment was that the movie trailers promised something the picture itself doesn't deliver: We didn't get to see more of Eduardo Verastegui, who is probably the reason most female viewers went to see this film. Those of us who tune in to Latin American soaps for the hot guys were definitely not satisfied!
View MoreI was attracted to this movie after seeing Sofia Vergara on one of the late night talk shows. Anyway, after watching her interview, "Chasing Papi" became a must see, but I didn't actually see it until this week when it hit Pay-per-View. I have to admit that the first time I watched it I was a bit dismayed that the plot seemed thin, but being that virtually every scene involved Sofia, I really didn't care. You can look at her a thousand times and each time you will will see something new that makes her appear even more beautiful. So naturally I watched the movie again, and this time I noticed that the movie flowed a bit better and that the plot wasn't as thin as I originally thought it was. Couple that with Sofia looking better than in the first viewing, and I can only surmise that this movie will get BETTER with each repeated viewing.I know what my schedule is like for the rest of the year!
View MoreI rented this movie last week and I thought it was pretty good. The three female leads in the film were beautiful. The movie had a few laughs but some of the actors could've been funnier, like D.L. Hughley. If any of you have seen any of his stuff you know he could've been funnier in this film. I know exactly what Tomas was going through in the movie so his character kind of hit close to home. It was great to see Paul Rodriguez in this movie as he had me laughing my butt off the time he was on screen. Overall I thought it was pretty good but this movie was played a little too safe. The plot about the money in the car and the ending where they learned that they don't need a man and become independent are basic but enjoyable. I would recommend this to any couple looking for a good movie to watch. Guys will dig it and so will the girls. I would definitely watch it again, maybe buy it.
