Thanks for the memories!
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
View MoreWatching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
View MoreHigh production values and a decent soundtrack doesn't redeem the hammy overacting and cheesy plot. Chinese nuclear threat meets Steven Seagal's aromatherapist/dietitian/cameraman. The QE2 is a marvelous ship, was a totally enjoyable record (Mike Oldfield), and shall ever be embarrassed to be featured in this film. And, for a Taiwanese national raised in Hong Kong, the vixen speaks remarkably good English - no accent at all.Worst line: (during dinner, before the sh*t hits the fan) "...then I said, 'After you, Miss Streep.'"I'm supposed to write ten lines, but I'm afraid this film doesn't merit that much attention (contradicted by the fact that I bothered to comment on it at all.) But, then again, I liked 'Xanadu'. Go figure. At least this one had commercials.
View More*ONE BIG SPOILER*Gee, isn't the plot like Speed-2? Hasn't this done before a lot of times? That feeling came to mind before and after watching this low budget flick. You believe a secret agent gets authorisation to transmit through a radio with his son back home, when no-one else gets an opportunity to communicate with the ship? Don't you see the consequences of this possibility, miles ahead? It's the obvious low budget characteristic that annoyed me in the beginning of the movie. People talking about who they are and what they are going to do (Something like: "as a 10 year-experienced secret agent I wil blablabla") instead of stories building up, are indications of a weak plot.An agent that saves a ship from exploding by driving a bomb away a mile or so is praised to have saved everyone. Need I say more? Okay, the broken relationships, struggles between colleagues and family also had to be included to please the female audience. For males: just dumb explosions and gunstuff. The dvdbox-cover fooled me, don't make the same mistake! (Attack on the queen, also with the title Counterstrike, makes one think again)
View MoreWell, it's not the deepest or most thought-provoking movie ever made, but one very big reason to see it, is to watch Rachel Blakely (Australian actress probably best known to U.S. fans, for her, in my opinion, terrific portrayal of adventuress Marguerite Krux, in "The Lost World") totally rock, in her role! She has got the action-heroine part down cold, and she even looks fabulous while she's kicking the bad guys' butts, in an evening dress and heels!! I hope this role gives her a higher profile, and more visibility... and will lead to further roles in movies and TV, that will be seen more widely in the U.S. She deserves it!! This actress made "Counterstrike" worth viewing, for me.
View MoreThis was billed as "Counter Strike" and it more than likely will be called that as the title on the IMDB is similar to a Sinatra film of quite a few years ago called "Assalt of a Queen".Anyway this is quite a good action film, there are some nifty Kung Fu bits in it, the story line is also good not to convaluted, and the fact that 99% of the actors are little known makes it better, if you see a "star" running round you loose a bit because you know who it is...#Steven Segal did it better in "Under Seige"...but l thought it was an ok film and recommend it... Marks out of 10.....7 Zorro
