The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Wow. The only good thing I can say about this movie is that I didn't pay anything to watch it. Just...wow. one of the great tragedies of all time is that Roger Ebert apparently didn't review it before he died; he could supply redemption to truly loathsome films with his slicing wit.I wish I could come up with something devastatingly witty to say about this movie, but words nearly fail me. It must've had a strong sponsorship from some kohl manufacturer; the actors & actresses all look as if someone passed out pairs of binoculars with the eyepieces heavily slathered with black paint. The acting is beyond bad, hitting new depths of atrociousness; wooden & ludicrous. Of course, the script is abominable so it's not as if they had anything to work with. It makes no sense. It cuts randomly from scene to scene, with no rhyme or reason. This is one of those movies that's so bad that not even the geniuses at MST3K could've made watching it worthwhile, even at their very best.To paraphrase Monty Python, this is not a movie for watching: this is a movie for laying down & avoiding.

I started watching this movie thinking I had watched part 1 first, but I had not. But guess what? It didn't matter. I was mesmerized. This movie was on POINT! I will recommend it to all my movie lover friends and every one else who needs a good thought provoking, weekend movie. It is SF, but you don't have to be a SF fan to enjoy.I was a little disturbed about the ending and so I went about checking for part 3 and didn't find anything. Hey you out there, if you know about a part 3 being out, let us know. Stewert St John did a bang-up job. I won't do like some people and give away the story but kind of like the Bible, brotherly love is tested. Now you got to see which way it goes. Because there will be a sequel or 2. I heard. lol

I would give this film minus numbers if it were possible it sucks - sucks - sucks - it is a crime to waste valuable resources on this pile of pure unadulterated crap. The acting sucks , the story sucks , it is poorly written and the acting is even worse than the writing. I feel as I have been robbed of 97 minutes of my life and Mr. Stewart St John should be banned forever from the directors chair, from writing i noticed that he is on Facebook and that is where i am heading next. I am angry at myself for being optimistic I kept hoping it would get better but it just kept getting worse. The idea is actually pretty good but the execution just plane .....SUCKS!!! I give this a rating of minus 99

This was released as The Next Race a few months earlier. Even after adding about 5 minutes of stock news footage at the beginning it is just as bad, so here is my review of The Next Race as it applies equally well to this drecht. Was this bad. The English language fails in that there is no word or combination of words that sufficiently expresses just how bad this garbage is. If it was flushed down the toilet the bacteria that normally processes waste matter would refuse to touch this movie.a few months later the producers decided the editing was at fault, so they re-edited this, making no improvements at all, and re-released it in 2010 as The Dark Metropolis.Upon flushing this down the toilet the same bacteria that refused to process it in its earlier incarnation, upon realizing it was in fact the same garbage with a different name, committed suicide.if only the producers would take bacteria's hint.
