What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.

In Rio de Janeiro, the wasteful Luis Soares (Luiz Soroa) is deserted by his father and has no money. Meanwhile, the sugarcane plant Mr. Carlos Silva (Côrte Real) decides to fire the manager of the plant, Pedro Bento (Pedro Fantol) and hire a new one. When Luis sees the advertisement in the newspaper, he is interviewed by Mr. Silva and meets his daughter Anita Silva (Nita Ney). Mr. Silva hires Luis and he moves to the countryside to work at the plant. Soon Anita and he fall in love with each other, but the vengeful Pedro sends letters to Mr. Silva telling the affair of his daughter with Luis. Mr. Silva decides to move to the big city with Anita to avoid a scandal. On her birthday, Luis travels with his friend Jorge (Máximo Serrano) to meet Anita and give a rose to her. Meanwhile Pedro uses dynamite to blow up the funnel of the plant. When Luis returns, he seeks out Pedro. What will happen next?"Braza Dormida" is the fourth silent film of Brazilian filmmaker Humberto Mauro in his Cataguases Cycle, far from the big center Rio de Janeiro. The melodramatic romance is considered by many professional critics one of the greatest Brazilian films. The plot has erotic scenes for a 1928 film and is interesting to see the moral and tradition of 20 's in Brazil. Anita's father only allows her marriage with Luis when he learns that his father is an old friend of him. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "Braza Dormida" ("Sleeping Ember")
