Good movie but grossly overrated

Sexyloutak

Absolutely the worst movie.

Chirphymium

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

While the storyline told in this movie was rather predictable and very straight forward, actually to the point of being generic, then it still turned out to be a rather entertaining movie. And that was because of the characters in the movie, because they were nicely fleshed out, and they had cast some very nice actors and actresses for perform the various roles and characters in the movie. and there was a good on-screen chemistry between them.It was especially nice to see Tim Allen in a role such as the one he had in this movie, because he nailed it with his performance. This was a nice surprise of a movie, because I had no expectations to it when I happened to come across it on Netflix, definitely worth a watch. If you enjoy offbeat movies then "El Camino Christmas" is a movie for you, no doubt about it.

This is the kind of movie I wanna root for: unique, small, quirky, human. Unfortunately, it's just so...odd. Not funny enough to be a comedy. Not clever enough to be original. Not thrilling enough to be exciting. And DEFINITELY not authentic enough to feel real. There was one moment I really liked (cops shoot out "through" building), but otherwise this is just an awkward holiday indie that wastes a stacked cast.

El Camino directed by David E. Talbert. This movie has been the most unique Black-Comedy Christmas Movie I have ever seen, it has the happy touchy feeling as the classic "It's A Wonderful Life" and the dark gritty humor as "Bad Santa." It's a movie that will offend and a movie that will make those with weaker hearts sad and those with hyper-logical thought process angry. But what makes this movie so watchable in my view, is how possible this scenario is. Hostage situations are the most tense crime thrillers in the genre. This one tells the story of a man in the wrong place at the wrong time and how a simple altercation exaggerated into a catastrophe. By the end of the movie, I was so stunned by the beautiful scene elements. The intensity, the calm music, the hopelessness. It is a movie that is specifically understood by certain people, not everyone will see eye to eye on the quality of this film. It has the same classic potential as "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." Which was a comedy that was not perfectly understood by every viewer, it has a unique confusion. This movie has that same Classical Christmas Confusion

I only watched this movie because of the awesome cast and they're all really great here. My biggest problem is the tone of the movie. It starts off really good with some great humour, the characters are likable and all and you think this is how the movie will continue until out of nowhere it just goes off the rails and becomes some kind of drama / sort of action movie. It totally destroyed any potential the movie had. If anyone watched Tim Allen's 'Big Trouble' (2002) would know what I'm talking about. That movie is a great comedy and it stays that way from start to finish even though there's guns and action involved. Now this one really missed the target big time, unfortunately. It could've been a great comedy movie with such a great cast but I think they messed up hard, with their ideas all over the place so the movie doesn't know if it's a comedy or a drama or an action flick. Overall, it's watchable as a time waster but not something I would recommend readily for everyone.
