What a waste of my time!!!

Excellent, a Must See

Borgarkeri

A bit overrated, but still an amazing film

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

We have 3 movies in one. A black comedy. A romantic comedy. And a love letter to Elvis. While this seems initially promising, the movie falls flat on the face too early, with weak writing that didn't fulfill any of its goals. The black comedy seemed like a real good Final Destination spoof, in the form of a buddy cop movie, with a Loral & Hardy formula. And basically, to tell you the truth, the idea of killing Elvis's impersonators is tempting (out of million reasons, WHY THEY HAVE TO IMPERSONATE HIM WHILE HE WAS FAT, AND WEARING THAT SUPER CAMPY SUIT ???!!!). But that movie didn't complete. Instead, it got absolutely absurd when the 2 cops had to perform an Elvis act on stage, when everybody thought Elvis was alive, and when the movie totally forgets about the killings at the end !As for the romantic comedy; it was lame from the get-go. In fact it has neither romance nor comedy. It's done with obvious poorness, where he loves her because, as he puts it, "I don't why, but I want to see her again." !!, and strangely nothing happens between them during maybe all the second half of the movie !! What gets on your nerves is that nothing difficult was there to be passed between both; he's not married, she's too, age seems no problem (despite how John Corbett looked way younger than Kim Basinger !), so what could be the problem of them to get together since the start ?! And one last note; what was the freaking necessity of (Sean Astin)'s character and scenes ?!!! The line of the actual Elvis in 1957 didn't develop a proper meaning. And I felt that it slowed the pace. Let alone that the guy who played Elvis in those scenes was anything but him !(Denise Richards) is – as usual – bad. (Angie Dickinson), (Wayne Newton) and (Pat Morita) did worthless cameos that added nothing to them or to the movie. So (Tom Hanks) as well, who was nearly unseen (in another word; if during the movie, someone asked you "what time is it?", and you answered, you might miss Hanks in this !). And the computer program which identifies the faces from only the lips was the sole funny joke in the movie, despite being not shown as a joke ! There isn't much to call positive, however the black comedy during the first half, with all the surreal serial killing, was the movie's best. (Mike Starr) with (Phill Lewis) were fine, especially (Lewis) as a cleanness freak. I don't see that (Basinger) is sexy. I don't believe she's a heck of an actress (pardon me, but she didn't deserve that Oscar !). Though, her teary look was effective, however she must have had that script rewritten first to be any better, so she might have played something more solid, touching and memorable (in a good way !). And finally, it's always a delight to see (Denise Richards) getting killed in any movie !The writers of (Elvis Has Left the Building) love Elvis, and hate his impersonators badly. Sorrowfully they didn't make a good movie out of these feelings else that "3 not enjoyable movies packed in one" I watched !

I'm not saying this is the best movie I have ever seen. It is, however, a pretty funny movie. I had a special connection Elvis (and still do) and watching this movie helped me, in a way, feel a little closer to him. The movie is about Elvis impersonators. Harmony clearly had a connection with Elvis like I did. She respected him like I do. And since I do, I was a bit hesitant about watching this movie. But as I started watching it, I realized it's not trying to offend Elvis, but it's simply giving out a message that maybe it would bother Elvis, having all the impersonators around. Knowing Elvis, it probably would. So, while this isn't the greatest movie around, it definitely gives a message in a humorous way. My connection with Elvis just got stronger!

Call me sick, but seeing bad Elvis impersonators get offed by the score is my idea of fun. How many times have they offended our eyes, ears and occasionally even our noses - It was high time that someone would pay them back! My wife and I laughed out loud in several instances and she kept rewinding the mailbox scene so many times that I thought she was trying to kill me as well, rolling on the floor and choking on my laughter as I was.The whole movie was very entertaining and plain fun, the actors seemed to understand that this movie is not to be taken as a dead serious comedy either and overplayed their roles suitably. I loved the gay receptionist - Yes, clichéd, overplayed and absolutely unrealistic, but he was portraying the quintessential caricature of a gay receptionist with a lot of warmth and good natured humor. The other characters reactions to him were a sight to behold. The only thing that could have improved this movie would have been another few dead Elvis impersonators offed one by one, not all at once. Oh well, one can always hope for a sequel?

The successful Pink Lady cosmetics saleswoman Harmony Jones (Kim Bassinger), who uses lipsticks of her competitor to protect her lips, is very connected to Elvis Presley since she was seven years old and met him. She presently wishes to have a boy-friend and raise a family of her own, being lucky in business and unlucky in love. While traveling nearby Las Vegas, she accidentally kills three Elvis Presley impersonators, and she believes the police is chasing her. Meanwhile, she also meets Miles Taylor (John Corbett), who works in an advertising agency in New York, and is traveling to Las Vegas to finalize his divorce process with his former wife, Belinda (Denise Richards). She wants her Elvis Presley clothes back as the final condition to sign the divorce papers. Harmony sees the clothes in Miles' hands and believing he is another Elvis impersonator, she avoids him, afraid of hurting him.My wife is a great fan of Elvis Presley (but she is not an Elvis impersonators), and I bought this DVD for her. For me, the great attraction was the always sexy and gorgeous Kim Bassinger. Denise Richards, Angie Dickinson, John Corbett, Tom Hanks and other names completed a really good cast, and we have just watched this movie. "Elvis Has Left the Building" is a very silly romantic comedy, with a quite ridiculous script near to the non-sense, but with lots of black humor. Although alternating good moments with very bad ones, I really laughed a lot. There are really funny situations and although very irregular, it entertains. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "Elvis Ainda Não Morreu" ("Elvis Has not Died Yet")
