A day at the carnival — sensational tent shows where miracles can be seen for the price of admission, boisterous noise of crowds and barkers, shrill and gaudy circus music, the violence of the street ten-fold. This is the substance of Everything Turns, Richter’s first sound film. At its premier at Baden-Baden Richter got into a fight with two Nazi officials who disliked the film's ‘modernism.’ Yet in 1936 it was awarded first prize for artistic merit by the Nazis, with Richter’s name suppressed from the credits. He had long since left Germany.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de)

"Alles dreht sich, alles bewegt sich" or "Everything Turns, Everything Revolves" is a 3-minute black-and-white silent short film from over 85 years ago directed by German filmmaker Hans Richter. It is clearly visible that this one was inspired by the slapstick comedy of the famous silent film actors back then, but Richter gets nowhere with it and it lacks charm completely. This is a stage show mostly, but it's never an interesting watch and the only thing that makes a difference compared to what Méliès did over 30 years earlier is that you see the audience. One of Richter's more known works maybe, but certainly none of his best effort. Not recommended. Disappointing watch.
