What a waste of my time!!!
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

View MoreI actually created an account just to leave a review for this film. It started off promising but as the movie progressed it just became more and more ridiculous. I love shocking horror films so loved that element. However the film soon became filled with clichés and mannerisms associated with other horror films and franchises- so it lacked originality and was done exceptionally poorly. The ending is where the film completely fell short. I can't say it's totally clear as to what the ending is. The film relies on flashbacks to tell a story yet when the "truth" is known the ending is not so clear. Is it literal hell on earth and supernatural? A manifestation of guilt? I honestly have no idea as the execution was so poor the message just didn't translate. The acting was pretty consistently awful too which did not help.. I sometimes wondered if I'd be so nonchalant after some of the.. methods of torture used within the film (trying not to give too much away). Finally this is a massive spoiler but you discover they killed their baby. This is then briefly shown and the scene ends with the sound of a baby drowning. This was totally tactless and seemed to offer nothing to the film apart from shock value... I just wouldn't waste your time with this film. There are films within this genre (for example the French horror inside) that are just as shocking and just as disturbing but offer story, character development and either deal with issues such as children with more tact or it acts as symbolic for a greater purpose.
View MoreThis movie has become one of my all time favorite horror movies ever! I didn't expect one movie to have so many twists and horrific scenes. It was very creepy and disturbing. This is one of those movies that you think you know what is going to happen and then the complete opposite happens. I watched this movie for the first time with my friends and the ending left us in complete shock. We sat there talking about it for a half hour after it ended because we couldn't get over how unpredictable it was. Daniel Coughlin and George Bessudo did a fantastic job on making a unique religious horror film. I definitely recommend this movie!
View More"Farmhouse" is almost unthinkable--although it initially comes across (and perhaps was marketed) as "torture-porn", it transcends that label and turns into something like a modern, original "Twilight Zone" episode. It relies on a great story, which tells us just enough to keep us guessing up until the (genuinely) shocking ending; it is full of marvelous details (as several have pointed out, this movie does for cheese graters what "Jaws" did for the ocean); most importantly, it has a clear, moral vision of the world which guides all of the characters' actions. The two protagonists of "Farmhouse", a couple mourning the recent loss of their child, make a genuine claim on our sympathies and are wonderfully acted throughout. Best of all, both of them are allowed to be somewhat resourceful--they aren't the usual stick figures who go off in the woods by themselves, or walk down into the basement unarmed to investigate a strange noise. Steven Weber and Kelly Hu are also terrific and fearless as the smiling, vaguely Biblically named farm couple (Samuel and Lilith) who take them in when they get into a car accident. The torture scenes are tense and inventive, but we aren't coerced into enjoying the pain of the victims (although we do enjoy the evil relish displayed by Hu and Weber). And the ending is the opposite of M. Night Shymalan's twists-for-twists sake; it changes the meaning of everything we've seen and casts a chill similar to classics like "The Maltese Falcon". My only (tiny) reservation is with the video game/medieval costuming at the end; this movie doesn't need such gimmicks. If the last shot doesn't haunt you, you're too jaded for decent company.
View More"Farm House" is somewhat of an interesting movie. It starts off fairly good and just gets better.Once introduced to Samael and Lilith, I thought the movie was going to take a turn into something supernatural, so I was kinda expecting something to happen throughout the movie, but I was kept in suspense. Sure there were lots of thrills and some nice scenes, but never anything supernatural... Not until towards the end. Now, I am not going to give away more than this. The cast was good. Especially Steven Weber and Kelly Hu in the roles of Samael and Lilith, they did a nice job. They were just enough creepy and enough weird. But also the two leading parts were nicely acted out.Throughout the movie it is like you are following two different stories involving the same 2 leading cast. One story where they are at the farm house, and one story dealing with their loss of their child and them struggling with their debt. These two running story lines worked well together, and came together in a nice moment of clarity. Now, this is not a horror movie that will have you screaming and curling in fear. But there is enough suspense and thrills to keep most horror-fans interested. As for the ending, well, it did take that long awaited supernatural twist, but it was a bit too much. But hey, it is only a movie. Despite this ending, the movie was still quite enjoyable. Suitable for a night of staying indoors watching a movie.
