Good , But It Is Overrated By Some

Sanjeev Waters

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

This is a highly original and creative science fiction motion picture that is incredibly powerful. The tension is astounding and the terror unbelievable. It is good to see the wonderful Clu Culager in such a tremendous role and under the direction of his son, John Culager. All the cast is outstanding in this movie and the entire motion picture will keep you on the edge of your seat. The monsters are realistic and the situation certainly plausible although the blood and gore can sometimes be a bit much. It is very interesting how the dimension of group dynamics and how people behave under pressure during times of extreme crisis is handled so well.

John Culager has proved himself to be one of cinema's most creative directors. Arguably his most triumphant contribution to the horror genre and the one that is best remembered is Feast. Culagers's vision could not be artistically contained in only a single film and it soon became clear that only a trilogy would be adequate in order to express the gifted film maker's cinematic ambition. The result is nothing less than overwhelming. The first entry in this trilogy is a superb film, serving as an introduction to the entire saga as well as a stunning stand alone motion picture. With incredible suspense, unrelenting intensity, and profound horror, this is one of the finest horror films in the last decade. There is also wit and some humor in order to temper the terror and it is at times brilliant. An excellent cast creates characters of depth and humanity and it is perhaps the relationships between the individuals that are part of this film's greatest strength. Outstanding in the role of the bartender is Clu Culager, the director's father, an acclaimed veteran who gives one of his most beautifully realized performances in years. To experience the development of Culager's character over the course of the trilogy is truly extraordinary. It is essential that the Feast trilogy be seen in its entirety in order to appreciate this work in all its power and as the director intended it to be viewed. One will most likely find that viewing the first Feast film will capture the imagination to such a critical extent that immersion in the entire series of films will be unavoidable. The Feast films are indeed the most magnificent fulfillment of director Culager's cinematic vision to so far reach the screen. With this success and the associated critical acclaim, demand for his work will certainly not diminish.

Those that even tried to fix your fingers to give this crap movie a ten rating you are why crappy horror keeps getting made. The fact that wes craven attached his name to this terrible movie is laughable. No plot, horrible actors and dialog, monsters screwing cats in the equally lame sequels and kids and babies being eaten and the gratuitous nipple scenes to keep you watching this crap movie. Fans that grew up on freddy, exorcist, jason, hellraiser, or halloween will understand why even fir a b movie this is absolutely terrible. If you can waste an hour and a half attempting to watch this sober be my guest otherwise do not watch or attempt to think this movie gets better.

If you liked Dusk Till Dawn and/or Demon Knight, this is movie is worth the watch. The gore is plentiful, the blood is abundant and the bits of dark humor are well placed. The greatest part of the movie is that it never takes itself too seriously. This movie floated under the radar but deserves the attention. If you are a horror movie buff, or looking for something interesting to check out, this is the one to watch. It is good to note that this film spawned two sequels, so someone out there wanted to see more. This movie has that cult vibe, full of wicked one liners, and gruesomely creative scenes that will leave you obligated to share around the water cooler at work.Put on the popcorn, sit back and enjoy this bloody good romp.
