This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

View MoreThe film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
View MoreThe movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
View MoreFighting the War (1916) ** 1/2 (out of 4) I think WWI buffs are going to enjoy this short a lot more than just your casual film fan. The documentary runs just under 25-minutes and pretty much shows us different aspects of the war and how one goes about fighting it. According to the DVD notes, this was shot between February and June of 1916 and released in America shortly after. We get to see images of Scottish and Algerian troops doing a variety of things ranging from digging trenches to doing a battle at night and bombing a village. Director Thompson never tries to tell any type of story or to have the footage shown in any type of storytelling style so what we've basically got is just footage thrown together. In terms of entertainment there's not too much here but I'm sure history buffs are going to be the ones interested in seeing this footage. This film was released before America had entered the war so I'm sure it was meant to show the men of this country what was going on overseas and what they should expect.
