Very Cool!!!
Load of rubbish!!
Best movie of this year hands down!
A Surprisingly Unforgettable Movie!
As the protagonists are brothers, there was so much material to be developed during the movie that they was'n represented: the period of rejection from their parents (which must have been one) and finally acceptation and reconciliation. Beyond their sexual orientation, that's incest! there had to be at least a scene where they talked about it and there wasn't. Infinite problems could have appeared in their lives but the only one that was shown was a long-distance relationship which could have appeared in any film with a normal couple. They could have shown how they managed to be accepted, nevertheless, everything goes happily without anyone judging them; it's simply not realistic. There was a lot of material to be exploded that was completely ignored. The story itself is really good and should have been represented that way
View MoreAll I really gotta say is that it was hot. Totally hot. I realized that it was based off a very sensitive subject -- one not highly looked up upon, but the movie just made it work so well. Did I mention it was hot? It was a beautiful kind of hot, though. The actors did a real swell job. I appreciated this movie. It was the kind of romance I wish there was more of. Not necessarily (incest) but the kind of sweet, passionate, and just 100% loving romance. It's a really calm movie. At first, it's sweet, it shows a picture perfect kind of family. One with a lot of love and not too many issues, ya know? Story gets deeper, along with the relationship between the boys, but still its like, an innocent kind of loving. It's great, really.
View MoreI'm not sure what to make of this film. It is undoubtedly the most romantic portrait of homosexual male incest ever put on the screen. The two (half) brothers in question stare tenderly at each other almost every second, say things like, "To understand our love, they'd have to turn the world upside down", and even exchange wedding rings (!!!). The film approves so much of this relationship that the only drama it can find is one brother's opportunity to study in Russia for the Olympics, which will separate him from his paramour for three years. There's some mild suspense as to whether this hiatus will push one or both brothers into a more socially acceptable (homo or hetero) sex life, then a rather abrupt ending. While it is refreshing that the movie avoids the usual Lifetime TV melodramatic approach ("We just...couldn't...STOP!!!"), it's rather bizarre that the brothers' relatives and friends never protest or even ask uncomfortable questions; everyone else in the movie just wants to avoid the subject. And the structure compounds the problem; the movie lingers on "poetic", eventually redundant scenes of the boys' childhood (long after we get the idea) then suddenly leaps forward several years (killing off two principal characters) to the start of their sexual relationship--we never really see the decision made, and the moment of no return seems to happen between scenes. The subject is raised, then glossed over with golden cinematography and a near-constant underscoring of "tasteful" neo-classical mood music (i.e., much piano noodling cushioned by aching strings) which stops at crucial moments. Is it seemly for an incest movie to be so inoffensive?
View MoreWhat a load of pretentious crap this film turns out to be. The most absurd and unbelievable premise is taken to extreme cinematic void through a soap opera type script and TV-commercial imagery. The charm and good looks of the two leading actors is enough to make you feel compassion for the characters but then you keep being blown to the sides by absurdly abrupt plot points and increasingly laughable drama. Lots of information is quickly given by poorly written dialogue and then you are given the chance to rest your eyes every so often with montages of extreme happy or sad kissing and making out - all set against a dramatic score that often makes you burst out laughing. The only reasons one can enjoy this film are the same that would make you enjoy an episode of afternoon TV drama as you prepare yourself a tortilla and think of making a dentist appointment... or the same that make you enjoy a Bel Ami porn - although unfortunately there is no actual sex in this one. My advise would be to skip it unless impossible, but never, NEVER, pay to watch it.
