Everyone has ideas. But what where do they come from? And what ensures they keep coming? How do you sort the genius ideas from the useless ones? Why invest all this hope and energy into making things in the first place? From Nothing, Something profiles creative thinkers across a variety of disciplines and finds common methods, habits, mindsets and neuroses that help bring breakthrough ideas into being. This is a thoughtful, intimate, often funny look at the creative process—straight from the brains of some of our culture's most accomplished and inspiring talents.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

I saw this movie last week, when it premiered in Estonia for the first time. I know the movie is a few years old already, but it still stands out in 2017. The movie covered pretty much all there is to being an artist in today's society along with all the struggles and difficulties which come with the profession. It also talked much about the joy of creating something and experiencing the long-waited success. I really felt inspired and felt the motivation to keep doing my own thing. What i really liked about this movie, was the variety of artists speaking from the personal experience of their career. The list went from musicians to video game creators. I felt it was a good move to incorporate such wide spectrum of artists to the movie, because then every viewer ,whose interested in some form of art, can relate to it. The Estonian screening occurred at the theater of some design/interior design bureau and there were a lot of people with very different arts background and the movie was very well received amongst them. There were many passionate discussions later at the after-party. It was great seeing people coming together sharing their perspective.

I just had the privilege of viewing this film. I myself am a (slowly) aspiring musician, and as of late I had been feeling very unsure of any potential future success. Everything seems so impossible at times, but this film showed that nearly everyone feels that pressure during their journey to the top, in small, slow doses, or through sudden, profound obstacles. There's probably plenty of each. This film showed me that if we believe in what we're creating, then that in itself is a success, and will lead to more success in the future, not to mention personal satisfaction. Creation gives real meaning to our lives, and ALL persons have the unique potential to accomplish that fulfillment. Well done.
