Married couple Gigi (Gigi Lai) and Fai (Anthony Wong) find themselves heading home to Gigi’s mother’s Yuen Long estate, instead of Japan as intended, for their annual vacation, as shifty property developers have been trying to oust Mum (Helena Law) and sister Fen (Shirley Cheung) from the family home. While Gigi struggles with mysterious stomach cramps, Fai and Fen have their own share of hassles with ghosts and ghostly possession.

This is a low key Chinese horror flick, starring Gigi Lai and Anthony Wong as a wife and husband who returns home to be with her mother and sister in a house where odd things are taking place. Soon, it was discovered that the place was haunted; therefore, our characters must save themselves from the paranormal menace. This movie is set in a more serious tone versus the popular horror movies with the comedic touch that is so popular in Hong Kong. There are some effective scares; however, much of the movie is uninspiring as there are few surprises and suspense and a slow-paced plot. The A-list cast of characters were a treat to watch, but over than that, this is a very average ghost movie.Grade C-

Anthony Wong, one of my favorite Hong Kong actors. Here he plays the husband of a woman who returns home to be with her mother and sister in a house where weird things are going on. There spirits floating about and the house is full of bad feng shui because of where and how its built (Its "on the border between heaven and hell" and two pillars"are like "coffin nails"). Once there the spooks start to move things, an exorcist is brought in, ritual is performed and things get even weirder as people turn out to have other spirits in them and are not who they say they are. Simply put its a mess. A half hour in and I had no idea what the heck I was watching. Wong seems to be sleep walking through his role as a man who wants to just make love to his wife and "excrete", not relieve himself, or download or another word for going to the bathroom, but excrete (It may have been the subtitles but even I doubt it). When in the end he wakes up confused about who he is and what was going on I found myself sympathizing. Not worth the effort unless you collect odd ball misfires
