This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

I've seen this movie in my childhood and remembered it as a funny one. Now i re-watched it with great pleasure! It's a light comedy about rather nice gangsters and an idea, that dogs can find something, that they really should not (imho). There are lots of funny moments and there is no low-quality humor. Lambert and Anconina are a very good couple for their roles; Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is very nice as a "teacher" and other actors did their job well too. I am not fond of dogs, but it was a pleasure to watch after Hercule and Sherlock in this movie! Overall this film is much better (it is French! most of French films are good at least) then lots of comedies (especially American ones). I recommend to watch it and have a nice evening with your family!

I rate this movie 10/10 Of course it don't deserve 10/10 but his actual rate is so catastrophic ! Hercules&Sherlock is a cute movie for all the family, with jokes for everyone. It's a story of two dogs which can find false money end two mafioso losers. One (Christophe Lambert) try to be a tough guy and the other (Richard Anconina) who eat only pizza, listen zen music is totally terrified by dogs. The movie don't pretend to be a wonder, it's just funny and cute, dogs are amazing, look this movie alone or in family, you will pass a good moment. If i should make a comparison, Hercules&Sherlock remain me "THAT DARN CAT" with Dean Jones.Why ? Animal actors, false serious film, crazy characters.

This is a wonderful film. Except for Monsieur Morand, the characters are all likable (even Mme Morand). One almost shares the indignation of Mme Morand when she cries: "We should have been warned about the police raid beforehand, we pay them enough". One would like to help the criminals ! When in a later part of the film Pauline makes a move to befriend the girlfriendless Bruno, we are happy for him. There are many enjoyable details one needs to pay attention to, some of them without words. When Morand is arrested, there is a huge TV set in his cell. When crooked politicians supporting him are also arrested one after another, one sees how his prison cell looses gradually its expensive look and contents, and in the end only a small portable radio remains.The opening scene with its suspense, literally and figuratively, seems like taken out of silly Hollywood suspense movies, but when that scene returns much later even that moment (the only one I did not like) acquires a logical sense. The authors play well, as Kelly from Arizona points out. Three dogs and one cat play well too; how this was achieved is hard to figure out if you are not an animal trainer.Views of the French Riviera and of some well known places in Marseilles are an added bonus - and somehow make the antics of the heroes even more believable.

When you make an American or French comic movie, the little you can do is showing originality, talent and sharpness. The director, Jeannot Swarc didn't seem to respect these rules. His movie, "Hercule et Sherlock" is far from being a success. The three adjectives that I would choose to describe this movie are: hollow, labored and uninspired. Moreover, he's using several threadbare topics and especially this one: two main characters with a different temperament and who are compelled to work and stay together. One of them is afraid of dogs (the sequence when Richard Anconina is eating a pizza like a dog is particularly laughable. Let's add uninspired dialogs that vainly attempt to make laugh and you get a movie which the comic often falls flat because it gives an impression of "déjà-vu". But you can prefer this movie instead of the dismaying "soeurs soleil" made by the same director.
