If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

I just saw this movie available on one of my cable channel streams...I hadn't heard of it...Aren't those so often the most profound movies? :)... I Often wonder if a divine kismet exposes us to these one by one and in the perfect time...But, that's an idea for another movie of this genre...If you loved "What dreams may come" or "Ink" or Cloud Atlas et al. You should enjoy this; perhaps not as much as I did but...I have a strong fondness for Eastwood, Matt Damon and My boy Jay Mohr's...:)...I love how Clint paces a movie, they're always a deliberate pace and I see his crotchety face saying in that gravely confident voice; "I'm getting there, hold your damn pants on"...:)... Clint likes to use subtlety sparingly but tastefully, so as you barely know it's there...I gave it a nine because I recognized the intrusive "refugee"/"immigrant? message, as well as the annoying fake terrorism agenda so prevalent in 2010. That sort of thing saddens me and cheapens a beautiful message and movie...Shame on you producers! But, that was such a small part that It can be overlooked...Great movie, watch it when you're feeling open minded and not distracted...

HEREAFTER Family Movie Review jonathan September 22, 2010 Drama No CommentsBy Jonathan Decker (Family therapist, film critic)REVIEW (GRADE: D+) A rare double-misfire by director Clint Eastwood and star Matt Damon, Hereafter opens with one of the most gripping scenes I've ever witnessed: a tsunami sweeps through a resort town, with buildings, cars, and people swept up in a massive tidal wave. Initially similar to scenes in various disaster films, Eastwood shows his talent as a director when he scales down from massive special-effects- driven destruction and follows one person as she struggles for life against the current and debris. It's a harrowing, realistic scene, effectively opening with a bang a film that sadly whimpers along for the rest of its running time. Essentially a feature-length promo for psychic mediums with a few blatantly anti- Christian overtones, Hereafter is flatly-written, sluggishly-paced, and dramatically unsatisfying. To their credit, the actors do the best they can with the meandering script, and a few scenes are emotionally effective, but the end result is underwhelming and unfocused.CONTENT OVERVIEW: Hereafter is rated PG-13. It contains intense, but not graphic, depictions of a natural disaster and a terrorist attack. There is a moderate amount of foul language, including one f-word. It is implied that a man and a woman are having a sexual relationship, and both are briefly scene in their underwear in a hotel room (it is morning and they are waking up/getting dressed).MESSAGES TO DISCUSS: Do family relationships continue beyond the grave?

This is the first movie I have watched to the very last second even after finish line to see the Warner bro's logo. Feels like every bit of this movie is just connected to me and my visions If there is any help spiritually, Warner bro's have made it sure, for me at least The beauty of this movie is to put both the believers and non believers and also the ones who were not believers once, got it through experience. This movie might not be for everyone but everyone should watch it as it has reflected everyone's perspective of how they see this world the one hereafter. There could be a lot of debate of what is true and whats not but what we can do is let everyone live their lives, inform the ones who might start believing and let it to them to choose whatever they want.
