Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,

Some people trash the movie for its flaws and reality holes. Yes, it has some (e.g. what school votes for class president in the spring?), but it's not that bad. This is a good date movie for 20-somethings, even now. The only thing that seems outdated about the movie is the music; even the lack of computers and cell phones or clothing and hair styles don't affect it.As for people's griping about Morensky's age compared to Ryan Campbell, take careful note of the year the movie is set (1987) and what Morensky does the first time he's at the school office: he looks up at the wall and smiles. He's looking at the school's 1977 high school graduation class, probably his own. That would make him 28, not 30-something. A 28 year old dating an 18 year old is pushing it, but isn't impossible in the set-up situation of this film.I fell in love with Annabeth Gish from this movie (I was 20 when this film was new) and hoped she would turn into another Jennifer Connelly. Also of note is Oliver Cotton who played one of the Soviets in Clint Eastwood's "Firefox" (1982). He's a Stephen Dillane lookalike.
View Moreoff the wall, but does anyone know how to get a complete credits list? or Bradley (boy in drivers ed car), if you're reading this, post your full name for me! now, i have to actually compose 10 lines to post this, so lets just ramble. the boy in the back seat in the drivers ed scene is a long lost friend of mine from college i'm trying to reach. i'm running out of things to say...saw the movie; cryer looks like duckie & unfortunately, looks like he never pulled away from that 80's "flock of seagulls" look. not a huge fan, so regrettably, this is the last movie in which i remember cryer. i can only assume & hope that he has progressed onto Broadway after the 80's trend
View MoreSure, it was not meant to be an oscar winner, but this is the kind of film all the family can enjoy. It has elements of a teen comedy, drama and action. This film is the kind that you can watch over, without getting bored. It is not crude like most teen comedies, and relies on structure and characterisation to push the plot along, which is a nice touch. This movie is a nice film, one for all to enjoy!
View MoreIf you have not seen this motion picture, you're missing the gift that keeps on giving. Why? Here's why this film was robbed at the 1987 Oscars: 1) The story. "Guy hides from vindictive businessman by going back to high school" That log line alone deserves an Academy Award. 2) Performances. Jon Cryer is so good, you're wiling to overlook that fishy-looking beard (courtesy of makeup department). Why was there no Oscar nomination for him? Keith Coogan as Patrick is brilliant in a role that is, admittedly, beneath him. Did he get an Oscar nod? No, but he should have. Annabeth Gish is so charming and likeable as Ryan, that after the film is over, you realize that Cryer's character -- who's like, 30 yrs. old -- was dating a 17 year old vixen. And we know that that's just wrong, dear readers.3) The direction. Bob Giraldi, who directed Mike Jackson's "Hair-on-Fire Pepsi Video", goes above and beyond the call of duty with this opus. Sweeping dolly shots, flawless blocking of both camera and actors, and flawless choice of camera lenses put this one in a class of it's own. And yet, those stuffy academy members decided to give that golden statue to some dude named Bernado Bertolucci. I don't remember the name of BB's movie, but if you want Oscar-worthy entertainment without taking 12 hours to see it, Hiding Out is for you.
