Highly Overrated But Still Good

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

In India, education is of prime importance. There is a belief that a good education will make you. Hence children's schooling assumes the place of primary importance in every family. And this schooling starts with getting into a good school.The movie uses the basic premise of the rat race for parents to get the child into a good school and in a satirical way exposes the many extremes that parents will go to. There is also exploration of the class divide and as every Bollywood movie it has a dramatic ending. Excusing some excesses this is a thoroughly enjoyable movie. The performances and the screenplay deserve special mention.

I lost interest in the movie after Pia's parents moved to a slum to make their daughter eligible for the underprivileged quota. You just can't move to a slum from an affluent neighborhood, that is not possible when you long for aristocracy. That won't even suit your children. And the movie portrayed poor people like they are not (most of them to be exact) completely civilized, you need to be a loudmouth bully to live with them. Movie shows how slum dwellers react when they see an Aedes mosquito. Horrible depiction of lives of slum dwellers. Positive things are there too, it shows some of those those poverty stricken people have good hearts. Overall, the movie has some positive messages, but too much unreality and overacting.

Irrfan khan is a star now. He chooses good subjects and movies with great messages. Hindi Medium has its heart in its place. it will inspire many to sponsor a poor kids education. This movie is entertaining and at that the same time it raises relevant questions. The issue in question is the education system.

This movie is complete package. It has drama,emotion, comedy,romance & social message. Great acting by lead star Irfan & Deepak. Story & screenplay is perfect. director has given everything needed. Music is enjoyable with story line. this movie holds you till the end. Just go for it. & Best part is you can watch it with anyone whether you gf/bf or Parents.
