Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
View MoreStrong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
View MoreFinn Baxter and his family move from California to Maine to their new house. Finn is terrified and believes the house is haunted. While he sets up traps to catch the "ghost", his parents get stranded across town and Finn is home alone with his sister. Their house is targeted by 3 thieves. Home Alone 5 or as it's more known Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is a 2012 TV Movie that i didn't even know that it existed a few years back and how should i put it? It's better than 3 and 4 combined but that doesn't say much it's still a pretty dumb, over the top and unnecessary sequel to 2 of the best Christmas Movies ever made but let me start with the good, this film it's another guilty pleasure for me cause it has stuff that don't make any sense but it's still a funny film mostly for the 3 thieves played by Malcolm McDowell, Eddie Steeples and Debi Mazar i actually laughed with this sequel more than 4 cause 3 had some entertaining and laughable moments, the main kid Finn at first i thought he was some 10 year-old dumb nerd that plays games but as the films progress those games come in hand and he became a bit more of an interesting character but he is no Kevin for me, the sister was on and off for me she had a couple of good moments but only a few she was mostly annoying, the parents were alright, that little kid Mason at first i found him a bit annoying but as the film continued he helped a lot with Finn's plan to take out the thieves but the reason why i like this film more than Home Alone 3 and Home Alone 4 is because this guy called Simon played by Bill Turnbull i really enjoyed the message the film tried to send that a stranger sometimes is not always a bad person because he really helped Finn and the ending of this film reminded me a lot of Home Alone 1 and 2 and that was great. Now as for the negatives there were some over the top moments with Finn's character at first, some things made no sense at all and they even took scenes from the Original film and tried to do something original but it honestly did not work. Overall Home Alone 5 is no masterpiece it's not as good as the first one and the second one but is way better than the third one and the fourth one and i'm gonna give it an 6.5 out of 10.
View More(I thought I did this review already) I saw this in 50 Days Xmas after the 30 Days of Halloween lolNot as good as first two movies series, Never seen the 3rd in full, I hated number 4, i thought it really bad, did not find it funny at all. New family movies into home, the kids things house haunted, Older teen is not helping and Kid next Door is helping when tell he about the Haunting of the house. The family member were all meant to go Xmas Party , kids don't what too, soon they leave the kids home, Older teen sister. stay in room like any normal teenWhile 10 year old boys, who plays games no- stop, talking other older guy on X-box also dose a lot of things that Kevin did in the first movie, Like shaving (But not screaming) and like Sliding down stairs in Basket instead of a Sledge. However when he tells sister about new secret room in the basement, she tries scare him but ends up getting trapped in the Basement. Then house starts to get attacked by 3 robber and he makes number of Traps. Some really funny moments better then fourth , more then worth watching, really nice endings near the end as well.6 out of 10
View MoreA awesome comeback into the Home Alone franchise series. Home Alone: The Holiday Heist was funny and exciting. A good family comedy of 2012. Good performance by Christian Martyn and the entire cast. This one to me was fun to watch for holiday season. I recommend it.The first Home Alone starring Macaulay Culkin following Home Alone 2: Lost in New York w/Macaulay Culkin were the two best Home Alone films in the franchise. Macaulay Culkin putted on a great performance and sparked us all with laughs and everything and more. Also following the sequel Home Alone 3 into the Home Alone franchise starring Alex D. Linz. Home Alone 3 was also funny and hilarious without no regrets. Alex D. Linz was awesome and putted on a great performance he shined straight through. Also following behind Home Alone 3 was another sequel Home Alone 4 starring Mike Weinberg into the Home Alone franchise. Home Alone 4 was a complete fail in many audiences eyes and they didn't enjoy it. I've seen Home Alone 4 many times and I agree it wasn't that funny nor that enjoyable, but it was great seeing Mike Weinberg on screen he has always been a favorite boy actor and he always putted on a good performance.Home Alone: The Holiday Heist on the other hand was a awesome comeback. Christian Martyn shined in this one. Great work by Peter Hewitt, Aaron Ginsburg, Wade McIntyre, and the entire cast and crew.Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is a must watch. Fun for the entire family. If you love the home alone franchise you'll love this one.
View MoreWell, when I saw #5 Home Alone I thought immediately about the #4 disaster, but then my next thought was about Alex (Linz) and #3 (my personal best of the sequel) and I decided to give it a try. If I had to buy a ticket for the movie theater I would probably pass, but it was on TV and free, so let's go and see the pros and cons. First of all – it was totally PLAUSIBLE. Everything in the movie can happen (and probably happens somewhere) in real life. There were no amazing kid's stunts, super smart booby traps or villains – mega morons. Even the kid isn't uncatchable. Second – there was NO FAMILY HATRED. I really disliked those moments in #1 and #2 when the siblings were shouting 'I hate you' at each other every two minutes. Here we have the average intra family relations. Third – it was NOT RIDICULOUS. Just think #4 and you will know what I mean. Now cons: To start with – DOESN'T MAKE ME LAUGH ENOUGH. For a comedy it was not much fun and the worst part was the talking. I don't think there is a single memorable quote in the whole movie. Second problem is the genre. Since it is not funny enough for a comedy, what is it? Hardly an adventure and definitely not a drama. Maybe a family movie. But there is the problem – if you have gone for a comedy you will get disappointed. So how do we rate it and do we watch it? It is nice and good movie so 6 or 7 out of 10 is not undeserved. But not a movie worth second watching and if you are thinking of watching it on a special occasion – reconsider! Otherwise those are 90 minutes (plus commercials) you will not regret.
