A Masterpiece!

Murphy Howard

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

"I Touch a Red Button" is a 5.5-minute animated short film from 2011, so this one had its 5th anniversary last year. It is actually a music video by the band Interpol for their song "Lights" and the fact that it does not only have its own IMDb page, but also over 300 votes is because the director here was David Lynch. You can somewhat recognize his style at times I guess. The only somewhat memorable thing in here was probably the strong contrast between the black-and-white and the red (button). The plot and story (is this supposed to be the Plague Doctor?) are a completely mystery to me, if they even existed. The song isn't bad, but also nothing that wants me to take a look into the artists' body of work. Haven't heard of Interpol yet before checking out this one here. So overall, I am not too impressed by this one and while I certainly wouldn't call it a failure, I am still glad it was over so quickly. Maybe short films just weren't Lynch's thing, which is a pity looking at how many he made. There are several other (also much older ones) in his body of work that were just as forgettable as this one. I give it a thumbs-down.
