A bit overrated, but still an amazing film

ChicDragon

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

A plane has problems with the landing gear and so it is circling around waiting for a landing path. And while waiting for the landing the crew and the passengers do and tell a lot.I read the movie is also supposed to be a farce of Spanish politics. Since I know absolutely nothing about Spanish politics I have missed it all. Maybe if I was familiar I would have liked the movie even more. But it was still entertaining. My favorites of the movie are the flamboyant flight attendance. They have a great comedic presence and timing. I think one of my favorite parts of the movie is when they perform "I'm so excited" for the passengers. At the same time it didn't bring as much humor with the passengers. They were all outrageous characters but it didn't go too far and we didn't get to connect too much with them. Of course this is a farce comedy and one shouldn't expect too much depth but I feel a little more could have been done.Still it is a pretty entertaining and unique comedy. I would recommend it for people who aren't too offended by sexual humor and enjoy some lighthearted comedy.

There was a time when Pedro Almodovar made films worth watching - this isn't one of them ! It doesn't work on any level - not as a drama, not as a comedy and not even as the farce as which it had been clearly intended. It is just a very sorry mishmash of meaningless scenes inflated with an inordinate amount of, quite idiotic, talk about sex.Can I say anything good abut this film at all? Well, visually, as with all Almodovar films, it looks excellent, a great sense of colour in the way of cheap fairground sweets, and gorgeously stylised sets. And yes, the musical "I'm so excited" performance by the flight attendants is good fun (if not entirely original). But that is simply not enough to make a film worth watching. I came away feeling extremely disappointed, really just like I used to feel as a child after the ingestion of tempting-looking candyfloss on the fairground - a brief sugar hit, but one that leaves you feeling hollow and hungry. What a waste !

Something is wrong with a flight traveling from Spain to Mexico. A flight attendant drugs everybody in Economy. The First Class passengers are complaining. The plane's landing gears have been tangled with a chock that didn't get cleared.Pedro Almodóvar may describe this as a very light comedy. I would describe it as a very stupid comedy. I wouldn't mind the stupidity if it doesn't take place on a plane. It's a very odd workplace to do a farce in the post 9/11 landscape. It's almost a spoof. I wonder if he took any inspiration from Airplane!. The point of that movie was to spoof disaster movies. I'm not sure what this is a spoof of in the modern context. Almodóvar veteran stars Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz make a short cameo. It's a tease like this movie is a tease of something better. This starts off weirdly with anybody coming into the cockpit. The humor is very broad. The characters are very silly. They don't work on a plane in today's world anymore.

A non-stop, camp, farce, comedy. The passengers and crew, on a plane whose landing gear is broken, realise they are stranded as they keep circling in the skies over Spain until an airport becomes available where they can attempt to land.We are introduced to an unlikely array of characters (a hit-man, fraudster, prostitute, 40 year old virgin amongst others) who engage in sex, drug taking and alcohol abuse. Not one of Almodovar's best farces (see Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown)but definitely has his stamp. Depending on your sense of humour this could be a very enjoyable film.
