In a cheap motel near Peckham California, a maid discovers a man's corpse in one of the rooms. The dead man, Professor Grabowski, is associated with the Brandt Research center, and an autopsy reveals he died of a massive coronary during sexual intercourse. Another similar death is discovered almost immediately, this time a younger man. This causes the federal government to send in Agent Neil Agar (William Smith) to get to the bottom of things. The socially distant Dr. Susan Harris (Anitra Ford), who is in charge of some mysterious research in bee culture, becomes a key suspect for Agar.Agar manages to piece the puzzle together himself, but before he can apprehend Dr. Harris, she lures Julie into her lab and begins the transformation process on her. Agar arrives in time to stop the procedure, firing a bullet into Harris's machine and breaking it. The lab begins to explode, and the bee girls slowly die, including Dr. Harris. The film ends as Agar and Julie begin a romantic interlude.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS feels like a 1950s B-movie monster flick transported to the 1970s, where it receives a dash of cheesy fashions and a whole helping of female nudity to bring it up to date with film standards from that decade. It's undoubtedly a cheap and trashy movie, very poorly made and acted, although B-movie lovers will probably get a kick out of it anyway.Cult movie actor William Smith (he of the numerous biker movies) plays a government agent investigating a string of murders where the guys have all died during sex. It turns out that a sinister government experiment is behind these deaths, alongside a horde of killer women who literally strip and kill. The special effects are limited to some cool contact lenses and a few scenes of 'bee vision' while the acting is of the standard of a normal softcore flick. Former Hammer starlet Victoria Vetri (WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH) supplies some of the glamour. The whole thing descends into plot less inanity around the halfway mark, with one sex scene that goes on for ten interminable minutes before something finally happens. The cheesy climax is hardly worth the wait, either.

I got this film in the Drive-in 50-pack collection. I thought I would hate this film but it turned out to be surprisingly interesting and a decent sci-fi horror flick. The movie sorta straddles the Z and B grade films yet it's worth watching if you are into to sci-fi horrors. When I first popped this film into the player I thought "this is going to be a real eye-roller. A terrible film." but the more I watched the film, the more I became engrossed in it.... it only took about 10 or 15 minutes to grab my attention.Yea if you ever come across this film it's worth watching. It's not a film to "seek out" but one that if you happen to stumble on it it's worth watching if you like the Z to B grade sci-fi flicks. It's one of the better ones.5/10

Y'know, it's too bad William Smith didn't have a better agent.Imagine if Clint Eastwood was stuck in B movie hell all his life. Smith had the talent and the presence to be an A list actor. That said, this movie sucked. It seemed to have been filmed by a college student who made the story up as they went along. Men would get laid by women and then you hear buzzing sounds and then they're dead. No simulated sex was shown...just men lying on their back and girls who sometimes had bee-looking eyes. Lots of brief boobie nudity - oh, well. Even the title graphics looked cheap. The plot made no sense - somehow bees and humans were cross- bred.....Extremely cheap movie....if it cost more than $100 to film, I'd be surprised. Anyone with a video camera could do a better job.

INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS (aka. "Graveyard Tramps") of 1973 is a low-budget B-Movie which is primarily memorable for pursuing one of the most insanely grotesque ideas in 70's Exploitation cinema, which, as any fellow fan of 70's Exploitation cinema should know, is quite an accomplishment. In a California small-town, men drop dead 'like flies', in what seems to be an epidemic that has men of all ages die without reason during sexual intercourse. In the meanwhile, the bored women of this small-town become increasingly horny and sexy vixens, which subsequently results in more dead men. FBI agent Neil Agar (William Smith) comes to help the clumsy Sheriff investigate. Might the whole epidemic have something to do with the hot, insect-obsessed female scientist who is conducting some mysterious experiments near town???The film is mainly worth watching for its weird premise, and its textbook low-budget execution. In an enjoyable, typically 70s American B-Movie manner, INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS combines absurd and impossible-to-take-serious Horror/Sci-Fi ideas with mild sleaze (over-promiscuous women and gratuitous female nudity), including humorous undertones and not taking itself too seriously. The female cast members (including Anitra Ford) are entirely hot; for whatever reason, most of the hot female characters are married to fat, bald men, who are subsequently sexed to kingdom come. B-movie legend William Smith (whose impressive filmography includes almost 300 movies) will probably never get a life-achievement award for the most subtle character acting, but he is the perfect leading-man for a grotesque low-budget flick like this one. I own this film as part of a 100-Movie-Horror-Classics DVD-Box, and had seen the trailer some weeks before first watching the movie. My expectations were met: See the trailer, and you have basically seen the whole film. The performances are as bad as one has to expect, of course, and in-between the bizarre moments and the sleaze, the film tends to have its lengths. The makers obviously were perfectly aware however, that this film wasn't a masterpiece, and the film does not take itself too seriously. In terms of camp charm, INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS is almost unsurpassable. A definite must-see for lovers of B-Movies, and people who can enjoy inept grotesqueness. Others beware.
