Feature-length crime drama, starring Iain Glen as the private detective created by author Ken Bruen. The sleuth investigates the accidental deaths of two students which appear to be random, tragic events, but in each case a copy of a book by John Millington Synge is found beneath the body. He suspects that a calculating killer is out there, enticing him to play psychological games.

Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.

Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

Solid performances by Iain Glen, Nora-Jane and supporting cast carry The Dramatist.Set several months after The Magdalena Martyrs with Jack experiencing sobriety for the first time in years, we get a closer and more personal look into his character as he is commissioned by a local professor to investigate a student's apparent suicide. As the events unfold and suicide turns into a couple of homicides, we see a connection to Jack's past. Layers of Jack's character are further revealed as he deals with a close personal tragedy and confronts consequences of previous inebriate actions.Yet again the world gets a peek into a rich Irish culture and history with the introduction of "Deidre of the Sorrows" by J. M. Synge.
