Elizar Perla is a recently retired cat burglar who has succumbed to the temptation of one final score. The target is David Gray, famous for his collection of art and other rarities. Soon after the job, Elizar disappears, leaving his daughter Marty (Gina Gershon) distraught. Desperate, Gray approaches Marty suggesting that her father will turn up as soon as the stolen artwork is recovered. She begrudgingly accepts the offer to help him locate the art, but all is not as it seems, as the rarest of stolen pieces has value beyond ordinary currency. Written by Peace Arch

A Disappointing Continuation

Beystiman

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Interesting look at the interplay between two detectives investigating a heist from a rich mans art collection...very smartly scripted with good quality actors playing believable roles that do not insult your intelligence...Good screenplay and very good shots...all in all a good quality movie...don't believe the low rating..it is balderdash...also this business of not being able to submit a review unless it has 10 lines is stupid...but these are their rules and so I must say something else here to satisfy their rules.well, once again they will not let me submit without more lines...really?...give me a break...maybe I should start relating green eggs and ham like ted cruz did during his filibuster...honestly this rule is so stupid..I have said everything I wanted to say, and kept it succinct for a reason...but lets give it another try and see if these people will allow me to submit...ridiculous rule

I was generally upset by the other reviews about this movie mostly stating that it was unpredictable and a sleeper. Anyone who has a basic understanding of the classics would know about Dorian Gray, David Gray not being much of a stretch on the name. This is a very childish allusion and made the movie beyond predictable; the second a stolen painting was put into the mix it kind of gave a way the whole plot and made me want to pull my hair out the whole movie. The foreshadowing apparently sprinkled in were blatant and obvious clues just adding to the hair pulling. All around I regret watching this movie because of its predictability, maybe if I was ignorant to basic literature then maybe this would have been an alright movie.

I didn't expected much from this movie after i saw the score here on IMDb, but i decided to watch because of the other comment that said it was a good movie. Not that i believed it (i thought it was someone form the cast or something) but i gave it a try anyway. This is one of those movies that is smart in every way you look at it. With a handful of actors, a handful of locations and a handful of $, they made this interesting movie, which keeps you in 'the dark' till the very end. This is a good movie, but if you take into account the resources they had, it's an excellent movie... Don't be fooled by the budget though. If i were to rate the aspects of this movies, i would say something like: Filming 8/10, Sound effects 7/10, Audio Quality 5/10, Plot 8/10.

Several minutes into the movie, it was clear the less than stellar acting would persist throughout the movie. Yet that may have been the director's purpose, as other elements of the movie, from the music, to the settings and cinematography, are done in earlier styles, as well, reminiscent of similar flicks done in the 1930s. The plot is indeed interesting, with the usual set of twists which will keep you interested, particularly when you learn there's something deeper going on... From the usual assortment of seedy characters, to clues cleverly sprinkled throughout the various scenes, this movie is is a sleeper that will wake you up with interest. At one point, the director engages in a very interesting parallel set of scenes that literally had me grinning at their enjoyable novelty. In all, a good flick.
