Best movie ever!

Maidexpl

Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

Nostalgia gripping me hardcore right now, as I sit at my boring job, reminiscing about the first time I saw this movie.I was 7- and this was when Jonathan Brandis (RIP) was all over Teen Beat and Tiger Beat magazines. 90s hearthrob at his finest. I remember pressing rewind, over and over, at the daydream scene with him kissing Vinessa Shaw- wishing that were me!Back to 2018...can you imagine them making a movie like this, in today's society, without it causing a riot? For many, many reasons....Anywho...perhaps it's best it stay golden, in the 90s. Another movie where characters didn't have to be over-the-top, obnoxiously offensive and it was still funny AF. Like the bar scene, were Rodney Dangerfield gets thrown out? Dying laughing just thinking about it. Or the hilarious clap-back jokes R.D. would say, especially against the other soccer coaches. "Coach Bull, huh! I know your FULL name!" or "Good thing she isn't two faced. If she were, she'd wear the other one!". This movie is a must see.

This dreary comedy is just not funny. Think about it--you know you are in trouble when the plot involves having a boy dress like a girl to play soccer AND the supporting actress is Jackée Harry. Plus, the movie is just very poorly written with most of its jokes being crude and stupid. You also know you are in trouble when one of these painfully unfunny moments is when Rodney is in the dressing room with this young boy and is helping him dress up like a girl--and the dialog is written as if he's having sex with this child. Wow--child molester humor--now that's sure to create a lot of laughs,...if you're an idiot or a child molester. It's really a shame, as Dangerfield did some cute movies that were FUN. While EASY MONEY and BACK TO SCHOOL weren't terribly deep, they were good for a few laughs. This film didn't even provide one.

Most of the movie is ok for a hot summer evening with nothing better to do but I feel that the setup isn't scoring. Why does Matthew agree to be a girl and play as Martha instead of assisting Coach Chester. And why do they lie about it to Bess? The jokes are alright too with a few that are to much. The acting of Jonathan Brandis was good, best know from this role in Seaquest DSV. I have seen movies of Rodney Dangerfield before and ain't impressed, the eye balls gig is near scary. Vinessa Shaw does some nice acting but didn't get much screentime. The rest of the cast are one timers or unknown (to me) actors/Actresses with exceptions of Blake Clark (Coach Bull) who had a regular guest roll in Tim Tayor's Home Improvement. Another worth mentioning is Chuck McCann (the Bartender of the bar Chester is drinking) he had regular voice acting roles in famous Disney TV Animated Series as Ducktales and Tale Spin.Anyway, when it's on tv and you've nothing better to do Ladybirds is a good way to kill time.

If you have seen and disliked either Caddyshack or Back to School you'll truely hate this movie. But if your a fan of either of them this is a cult classic. Jonathan Brandis and Jackee are both great in this, and Rodney is at his best. Its charming, cute yet mixes enough dirty jokes in their to keep both preteens and teens interested. I highly recommend it to anyone.
