An Exercise In Nonsense

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

When a series of strange disappearances has him concerned, a local wildlife officer finds that they are the cause of a group of monstrous crocodiles his son has found and kept for years, and must save the locals in the area from the savage animals. For the most part this one was quite an exciting and enjoyable effort. One of the more impressive features here is the fact that this one goes for the most action in the whole series, which manages to get plenty of impressive scenes that come with the standard situations found in these films. The opening attack is quite suspenseful with the growling interrupting the sex before the brutal water attacks, the first encounter with the adult crocs in the forest, a later scene where the crocs approach the house while he's with a babysitter and the numerous amounts of attacks on the water all come off nicely enough, yet there's even more to like here from the longer action scenes. The ambush on the campers in the woods, from it stalking the girls before attacking and leading to the water ambush during their escape as it flips the boat and begins chomping on them for a great sequence, the sheriff having a tense encounter underwater with one and the first highlight battle in the escape attempt from the house which has the action from the race to get the car started while the crocs attack leading to all sorts of fun trying to get them out, a final house assault with the trapped residents holding off the creatures and finally using some ingenuity to escape all come off as extended, thrilling action scenes. Still, the finale in the supermarket is the best with a lot of successful barricading, lots of action as they chase the group throughout the aisles and force plenty of enjoyable times going after the group which is where this all score as the action rather nicely for a spectacular finale which has a lot to like. As well, there's plenty of great kills and a unique plot that evokes a lot of the original's storyline which really helps overcome the few flaws here. One of the only ones in here is the few questionable parts of the story that don't make much sense. That they're considered bad parents by the majority of the townspeople seems a little excessive considering their reputation and really makes no sense to be included, and the storyline about having gone for several years without even telling their parents about the creatures right outside their house makes no sense for the kids come off incredibly bad over that fact. The other flaw here is the rather lame CGI, as this run afoul of all the usual flaws with that as they range from shoddy, pixilated execution to barely fitting in with the rest of the action and changing sizes constantly. Otherwise, this was a highly enjoyable offering with a lot to like about it.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Nudity and Language.

My parents and I were looking for a movie on TV and we stopped at Mega Pix to see Lake Placid 3, since I like horror movies, but it was a shame to watch that movie, my parents were enjoying it, but I felt like a idiot seeing those charts alligators watching a horror even, I had never seen Lake Placid 1 and 2, but knew that 1 is the best of all because they did not have these charts alligators and had good effects and also learned that 2 is the same as 3, these effects makes the movie look like a live action, like those films to children, it is disappointing. Would not recommend watching this movie, is not a good idea because you will feel the same thing I'll be watching that silly.

If you don't know what "tongue in cheek" means, do not watch this film. Personally I'd watch anything starring Colin Ferguson and Yancy Butler. You may know Colin as the sheriff of Eureka (SyFy Channel series) and Yancy Butler starred in the little known series Mann and Machine and Witchblade. Both actors have that special something that rivets the viewer's attention. As for Lake Placid 3, what do you expect? It's a second sequel to a silly film about crocodiles in a very northern lake. It actually takes place in Maine. Several hundred miles north of where any crocodile or alligator could survive. Obviously not to be taken seriously. Keep in mind that this is a summer comedy, relax and enjoy it for what it is.

OK, beat me up for this 8, but I think the movie deserves it. I was not disappointed...had a lot of laughs. The two stars; Colin Ferguson and Yancy Butler should have been the love interest, sadly they were not...together they could have made the movie much more enjoyable. Colin is good, not the greatest, but good enough. However Yancy Butler was really fantastic...she was a lot of fun, and she could act too. She reminded me of Parker Posie who made over 40 films before she got some good roles. Yancy has an acting flare that surfaces; manly because she plays every role as if its worthy of an award: she's great to watch. I hope she's able to get some really good roles. SyFy often makes a good low budget move, and never gets recognition. The Epoch movies were both very good, and worthy of main stream movie theaters, but never got the the nod. So beat me up...Lake Placid 3 was a lot of fun...and yes, I rooted for the crocks...maybe they'll make number 4 even better; hope they team up Colin and Yancy...and have the other wife eaten, and they become a couple.
