I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

I was expecting an indie horror movie with some low budget issues, but maybe something entertaining amidst the crap. What I got was a well acted, well done movie, using an original story and that was damn entertaining.Nick Damici is great as the blind veteran that has to battle werewolves in a old people retirement area. The script has some minor issues, mainly with the lack of involvement of the local authorities, but other than that, the story is spot on. Werewolves appear after 15 minutes into the story, the characters are complex, the hero both obnoxious and impossible not to like, the ending is epic.I don't understand people that rate something 4 or 5 out of 10 because it doesn't have superheroes or billions in budget. Do they understand that is it movie quality they have to rate? After being completely blown away by the movie I looked up Eric Stolze (who is NOT Eric Stoltz :) ) and saw that he also did Under the Bed, another really underrated original horror. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.Bottom line: you are missing out if you like horror movies and originality and you don't watch this.

When I first saw the review score and read some of the reviews I was put off, but now I'm glad I made my own decision on this. The film sets up the premise quickly but then takes a long time setup the final scene. This is achieved by using the mythical one month full moon trope.I found the characters to be well done, and unsettling realistic. Many may have found they were looking at themselves when seeing this film. From the hypocritical American Christians who superficially great people then ostracise them when it suits them to the protagonist with his grumpy old man angry at everyone persona. It was refreshing not to have perfect main characters but actually flawed human beings portrayed, shock horror! While the police are often portrayed as bumbling or clueless, here they were more disinterested than incompetent, but equally entertaining.Don't expect a schlock horror, while the effects aren't up to much, it's not about creating fear through special effects, arguably the laziest method available today, but the use of a slow build up of tension based around the one month time restriction. The inclusion of a blind main character was interesting. not relying on the old cliché that other senses become more acute, simply that he has to rely on them more, and we see him pains takingly working out distances around the house to make him more mobile and aware of his surroundings. All in all, I would recommend this film, to those who like their horror to be a bit outside the box. Certantly not for the typical nudity and gore aficionados. While others have stated this film has "ripped off" better movies, I believe it has incorporated elements in a far more believable way. While Silver Bullet was clearly best appreciated as a comedy rather than a horror, Last Phase is more of a suspense who dun-nit.

This is a really good "low budget" movie. Great acting- especially by the main actor and the priest character. I actually wanted to know even more about "Ambrose"- he really draws you in- very engaging actor. Plus nice to see a couple other talented familiar faces! The story was original enough for a "monster" movie. But one of the main reasons I decided to rent it was because of how much it reminded me of Silver Bullet in the trailer (which was probably the first werewolf movie I ever watched and is still my favorite at 30 years old). And it didn't disappoint! I kind of wish it would have kept us guessing for a bit longer than it did but it was faster paced in general. Not too much blood and gore either- just the right amount. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the actual face of the werewolf- they should have made the snout a bit broader and/or longer. It was still pretty creepy & scary looking nonetheless. But really overall a well-done scary mysterious werewolf movie- definitely worth watching! They are hard to come by!So if you are a big fan of Silver Bullet or Wolf, you will enjoy this one as well!

good movie plot back and forth, OK? main objective, Nick Damici looks a lot like Paul Newman in this movie. not scary enough. drags out too long. Nick should play Paul Newman in any movies. remake of Cool Hand Luke! just trying to open up more possibilities for Nick's fame. the life and times of Paul Newman! thank about it, this guy is a natural, looks and acts a lot like Paul Newman! I'm just trying to help , because I can see potential in a actor and this guy has the looks and caricaturists of playing the famous Paul Newman. If you cannot see this, then you are totally blind, I would love to see Nick portray Paul Newman in any movie or remake, he would be outstanding at anything Newman ever preformed!
