On the set of Cleopatra, Hollywood's most beautiful star, Elizabeth Taylor, fell into the arms of one of the world's greatest actors, Richard Burton - and she didn't leave. Their subsequent white-hot, scandalous love affair gave rise to the paparazzi and they became the most hunted and photographed couple on earth. Their rocky, passionate, relationship, born in front of the cameras, was subsequently captured in a series of films, including The V.I.P.s and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The last of the great, extravagant stars, flaunting diamonds, yachts and private planes, they continually seized the headlines. They even divorced and married again - only to divorce again - but remain in each other's hearts. This Elizabeth Taylor - Richard Burton story is a no-holds barred account of their undying, but impossible love.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Was blown away how engrossing this TV movie was. Lindsay Logan and Grant Bowler were both excellent. After 10 minutes I no longer saw the actors just the characters. Lindsay was great, while her public life may not present so well her acting has not suffered. In fact it fitted the character like a glove. She does not deserve the negative reviews which are biased and hateful in my opinion.Good production values.A very good starting point for today's generation to understand the period. Made me want to know more. Thanks for an enjoyable watch all.

Grant Bowler is the only element that saves this cheap disappointment of a movie from being a total flop... let's forget (if we can) that Lindsey Lohan cannot act, either in this film or any of her past endeavors and try to ignore the fact that Bowler has also been criticized as being a terrible actor. He is in fact a decent actor with good potential. He wasn't always physically convincing as Burton but he CAN act and I only watched this this film to see his performance... he didn't disappoint like the rest of this travesty did. Lohan playing someone as iconic as Taylor is next to impossible... she just doesn't have what it takes to be an actor... her scenes playing Taylor in her fifties is an absolute joke... she looks like a teenager wearing a wig and very poor makeup... nothing more. It's such an embarrassment it's not even worth saying anything else.

Sure, its no masterpiece but then its a Lifetime movie so really not intended to be. I definitely didn't think it was the disaster the IMDb reviews made me expect, either. There's no question, Lindsay Lohan really doesn't bring Liz Taylor to mind for anyone who is familiar with Liz. As many other reviewers have commented, it doesn't seem as if Lindsay even attempted to recreate Elizabeth's unique speech and a passable imitation likely would have made the portrayal of Elizabeth significantly better. If Lindsay's performance was considered for quality of acting alone, without any consideration of her likeness to Liz, it wasn't bad. I didn't focus on comparing Lindsay to Liz and I enjoyed the story for what it was. The last 15 minutes of the movie did feel just a bit rushed, I thought, even still, contrary to what I've read in other reviews I thought the story was well told and the characters well developed. I'm surprised the script and dialogue are being so harshly criticized - I have certainly seen much, much worse. If you're looking to spend 90 enjoyable minutes with something that doesn't require too much thinking I don't think this film will disappoint. A dramatic story of a tumultuous romance, set against the backdrop of the glamorous 60's Hollywood lifestyle.

I watched this movie with my roommate hoping for a good night filled with good movies, boy was I ever wrong. We began watching the movie and quickly contemplated turning it off. Going into the movie I did not know much about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. After watching the movie, I still know very little about them. I feel that costumes were the best feature of the movie, the clothing fit the era presented very nicely. As for actors and actresses, I feel that Bowler played a believable role at Richard Burton, but Lohan she had played to many other roles that I am familiar with to successfully fill this role. I feel someone else would have been a better chosen and she may have been chosen only to sell the movie. That is one of the main reasons that we watched it. This hour and a half movie felt like it could have been playing for three plus hours. Then to top it all off the movie ended so suddenly. The whole movie moved at a steady pace then all of a sudden the second divorce happens, then Burton is dead. Not the way I would have paced the ending of the movie.
